The Charles Page High School dance team competed at the Dance Team Union Regionals last weekend at Broken Arrow and earned the specialty Showmanship Award in Hip Hop.
The Sandites placed third in Varsity Hip Hop with a score of 72.73 and were seventh in Small Varsity Pom with a score of 81.07.
The JV team placed third in Pom with a score of 78.57 and the seventh grade Pom team placed third in its division with a score of 70.53.
The Charles Page High School Dance and Cheer teams are calling all alumni for reinforcements this Homecoming.
Past CPHS cheerleaders and dancers are invited to a reunion tailgate party and an opportunity to cheer from the sidelines during the September 29th game against Tahlequah.
Both teams are charging $25 to participate as a fundraiser for the programs. All graduating years are welcome but participants must have graduated from the program in good standing.

The Charles Page High School baseball team won its first two games of the season by 12-3 run rule against Shawnee on Friday and Yukon on Saturday.
The Sandites capitalized on a disastrous error-filled second inning from the Wolves to take a 6-1 lead and Northern Oklahoma College signee Dom Ornelas blasted a third-inning grand slam to put his team in run-rule territory.
Kayden Campbell got the win against Shawnee with nine strikeouts, four walks, and two hits in four innings.
Gage Elliott got the win against Yukon with three strikeouts, no walks, and five hits in four innings.
Brody Rutledge, Rhen Rutledge, and Jackson Turney totaled three hits apiece and Rhen Rutledge capped the scoring off with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to secure the run rule.
Sand Springs wrapped up the preseason with a 6-2-1 record, beating Pryor 3-1 on Monday before falling 4-2 to Union on Tuesday.
Oklahoma State-committed freshman Easton Webb tossed eight strikeouts in three innings with only two hits against the Tigers.
Ornelas hit a solo homer against the RedHawks and Eli Buxton struck out eight in four innings.
The Sandites will kick off district play Monday at defending State Champion Owasso (2-0), before hosting the Rams Tuesday and Victory Christian (1-1) on Thursday.
The CPHS girls powerlifting team took third place at the OGPCA North Regional Tuesday in Miami, qualifying seven for the State Championship.
Senior heavyweight Jaden Jordan won her second Regional title and fourth meet of the year, benching 165 for first place, deadlifting 405 for first, and squatting 370 for second.
Also qualifying for State are Madison Thompson, Melanie Skelly, Gracie Worthington, Olivia Alexander, Kelsi Hilton, and Kiyah Dover.
Worthington placed third at 136, Thompson placed fourth at 220, Alexander placed sixth at heavyweight, Dover placed seventh at heavyweight, Hilton placed seventh at 136, Skelly placed ninth at 150, and Thompson placed 11th at 108.
The State meet will be held Monday, March 6th, at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant.
The Sandite dance team advanced to the finals in both Pom and Hip Hop at the NDA High School Nationals in Orlando, placing third in Hip Hop and fifth in Pom.
The Ty Bowling era opened with a bang this week as the No. 13 Sand Springs wrestling team won its first two duals convincingly Thursday at the Ed Dubie Field House before placing sixth out of 35 teams at the Mid America Nations in Enid over the weekend.
In the first dual of the season the Sandites rolled to a 49-18 win over 5A No. 8 Duncan (1-1), going 10-4 in individual matches with six wins by fall.
The teams traded blows to an 18-18 tie after seven matches before Mitchell Smith won a 10-1 major decision to kick off a seven-match win streak.
That streak carried over into the next dual as the Sandites opened with three-straight wins in a 60-12 romp against the defending Arkansas Dual State Champions from Rogers Heritage (4-2)
Colt Hood won a 9-2 decision against defending State Champion Ethan McCrary at 120 pounds to take a 12-0 lead before the visitors got on the board.
The Sandites only lost three matches, all by close decisions, two of which were to returning State placers.
Jaden Allen and Mason Harris both pinned returning State placers and the Sandites totalled eight wins by fall.
At the Enid tournament the Sandites finished with four wrestlers in the top four of their brackets.
David Ritchey placed third at 113 with two pins, Smith placed third at 150 with three pins, Mason Harris finished third at 285 with five pins, and Ethan White finished fourth at 165 with four pins.
Jaxon Trotter placed 7th, Jayden Pait 10th, Ali McCoy 11th, Dawson Briscoe 18th, Allen 18th, Hood 18th, Jackson Burdge 19th, Preston Reyna 22nd, Jace Simms 23rd, Brody Ensten 25th.
The Keystone Kids wrestling club placed third at the Rumble in the Jungle tournament in Coweta over the weekend.
Hudson Waag, Hagan Wolfenberger, Sutton Hawley, Ryder Richardson, Ayreson Reiss, Ryker Dawes, Collin Randall, Brackton Upton, and Kydon Harness all won their brackets.
The Charles Page High School dance team took second place in 6A Small School Hip Hop at the OSDTDA State Championship on Saturday and the JV/JH team won its division.
Sand Springs varsity baseball coach Matt Brown was recognized as the OBCA Region 7 Coach of the Year following the Sandites’ 31-8 season in 2022.
“Coach of the Year awards don’t happen without the best assistant coaches, great players, amazing families, and supportive administration,” tweeted Brown.
Brody Rutledge was named the 6A-II District 2 Wide Receiver of the Year after catching 51 passes for 748 yards and eight touchdowns this season, averaging 14.7 yards per pass. He also had 18 carries for 131 yards and a score.
Jacob Blevins was also named an All-District receiver with 47 catches for 659 yards and four total touchdowns.
Drake Fain was named an All-District linebacker with 101 tackles. RJ Smittick was named an All-District defensive back with 64 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Dominic Ornelas and Charles Gaylord made the All-District defensive line. Ornelas had 14 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Gaylord had 33 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Jabe Schlehuber (WR/DB) and Cody Cramer (DB) received Honorable Mentions. Schlehuber had 27 catches for 369 yards and three touchdowns, as well as two interceptions. Cramer also had two interceptions to go with 57 tackles.

Charles Page High School celebrated three athletes Wednesday, April 13th at the Ed Dubie Field House, who signed collegiate letters of intent.
Journey Armstead signed to play basketball at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. The Blue Dragons went 29-6 this past season, making it to the second round of the NJCAA tournament.
Armstead finished her career as one of the most accomplished Lady Sandite basketball players in school history, scoring 1525 points, and was named to the All-State team.
Ashley Blake signed to cheer and Alyssa King signed to dance at Oklahoma Baptist University, an NCAA Division II school in Shawnee.
The Sandites’ nine-game win streak came to an end in a 2-0 upset against Southmoore (9-16, 3-7) on Monday, April 11. They won the second district meeting 1-0, however, and went on to beat Bartlesville and Glenpool in non-district action.
Sand Springs (22-4, 7-3) is off to its best start since 2012, but even district-leader Owasso couldn’t get past Southmoore.
The Sabercats played spoiler once again on Monday despite being out-hit six to two. The Sandites stranded two in the first, three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two in the seventh.
Jabe Schlehuber (4-1) struck out 11 while giving up only two hits and three walks in his first loss of the season.
The Tuesday rematch was equally close with the Sandites stranding two in the second, three in the third, and two in the fifth before Gabe Glenn hit his third home run of the season to lead off the sixth.
Southmoore loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning but Kayden Campbell (2-0) struck out the side to earn a save. Carson Seabolt (4-1) struck out six batters in five innings with three hits for the win.
The Sandites’ bats got hot again on Thursday with a 5-0 shutout of Bartlesville (19-9) that saw Keaton Campbell hit his fourth homer of the year. Jace Arnold (5-0) tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts and only two hits.
Dom Ornelas blasted his team-leading sixth homer of the year in a 10-1 five-inning run-rule win over Glenpool (9-19) on Friday. The Sandites combined for 11 hits in the win.
John Keim (4-0) tossed three strikeouts, three walks, and two hits in four innings, and Kayden Campbell tossed one strikeout and one walk in an inning of relief.
Sand Springs will return to action Monday with a district double-header at U.S. Grant (1-10, 0-6) before traveling to Oologah (13-7) on Thursday, hosting Bixby (24-5) on Friday, and traveling to Tahlequah (8-15) on Saturday.
Gina Foster shot a 111 and Madison Chambers shot 119 at the Union tournament on Tuesday, then Foster shot 103 and Chambers scored 106 at Sapulpa on Wednesday.
The No. 15 Sand Springs softball team (6-10) ended a tough week on a high note, beating Bartlesville 9-6 on the back end of a double-header.
The Bruins won the first game 8-6 after a sixth inning rally spoiled the Sandites’ 6-3 lead. Earlier in the week the Sandites fell 16-6 to both Berryhill and No. 5 Jenks.
The Sandites will host Bixby and Union in a double-header on Tuesday before traveling to Jenks on Thursday to wrap up the regular season against the Trojans and Pryor.
The Sandites’ Tuesday Senior Night district match with Putnam City was rescheduled for April 25th at 6:00 p.m. due to inclement weather. They fell 3-0 to Stillwater (7-6, 1-4) on Friday and dropped to 0-9 on the season.
The Sandite girls tennis team won a quad meet with Rejoice Christian on Tuesday.
Abbie Dubb won the No. 2 Singles battle 2-1 against Reagan Cherry, with sets of 10-7, 5-7, and 10-7.
The No. 1 Doubles team of Caitlin Shipman and Daffaney Snyder won their match 2-1 with sets of 6-4, 2-6, and 10-6.
The girls track team placed fifth and the boys took eighth at the Broken Arrow Track Classic on Friday.
Layne Kirkendoll won the high jump with a mark of 5 ft. 6 in. and the long jump with a distance of 17 ft. 11.25 in. Jestin Rawlins was runner-up in discus throw with a mark of 164 ft. 8 in.
Kelsi Hilton placed third in the 3200 in 12:52.42 and Gracie Gifford took sixth in 13:51.81.
Caleb Goodman placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in 19.1 seconds. Preston Kennedy was seventh in the high jump with a mark of 5 ft. 6 in. Matthew Shelton was eighth in the shot put with a distance of 41 ft. 11.25 in.
The girls relay teams placed third in the 1600 sprint medley, fourth in the distance medley, fourth in the 4x200, and seventh in the 4x100.
The boys relay teams placed sixth in the distance medley, seventh in the 1600 sprint medley, 11th in the 4x100, and 14th in the 4x200.
The fall sports season is quickly approaching for Charles Page High School and the Athletics Department is selling All Sports Season Passes Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ed Dubie Field House. Adult passes are $60, Senior Citizens (65+) are $40, Students (high school and below) are $25, and SSPS employees are $20.
Reserved seats from last season can be renewed during those time slots as well, and remaining reserved seats will be opened to the public beginning Monday, August 16th. Reserved seats are $50 for the season.
Both reserved seats and season passes will be available at Meet the Sandites, and season passes will be available at the first few home softball and volleyball games as well.
Meet the Sandites will be held Thursday, August 19th at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Fans will be introduced to the high school and youth football, cheer, dance, cross country, volleyball, and softball teams to kick off the fall season.
Cheer
The Sandite Cheer program recently hosted the 2021 Youth Clinic and several up-and-coming stars were recognized. Lillie Holmes was named “Rockin Rookie,” Ray Bivin received the Showstopper award, Brighton Cole received the CPHS Coaches award, and Marley Dixon was named the Star Jumper. The 2nd Grade team received the Team Spirit Award, and the 3rd Grade team received the Team Stunt Award.

Addison “Addy” Lambert will be taking over as Varsity Head Coach of the Sandite Dance program this year, replacing Michelle Spears. Lambert is a CPHS alum and second-year Pre-K teacher at the Sand Springs Early Childhood Education Center.
Fast-Pitch Softball
The Sandite fast-pitch softball team will host Sperry Thursday, August 12th at 5:30 p.m. at the Sandite Sports Complex at 408 West 55th Street. They will also compete at the Broken Arrow tournament this weekend with games against Tahlequah (Friday 10:00 a.m.), Broken Arrow (Friday 11:45 a.m.), Tahlequah Sequoyah (Friday 5:15 p.m.) and Union (Saturday 10:00 a.m.).
Fishing
The Sandite fishing team of Cruz Norris and Gunnar Casey competed at the 2021 Bassmaster High School National Championship in Dayton, Tennessee. The duo placed 99th out of 288 teams with five fish weighing 13 lbs 8 oz.
Football
Sandite Football is entering its second season under Head Coach Bobby Klinck and the team hopes to repeat their prior year’s postseason appearance. The annual Black & Gold Scrimmage will be held Saturday, August 14th at 9:00 a.m. and the first game of the season will be August 27th at home against Sapulpa.
Volleyball
Sandite Varsity Volleyball will travel to Collinsville Thursday at 4:00 p.m. before hosting their third annual Sandite Invitational Friday and Saturday. On Friday they will play Lawton at 9:00 a.m., Choctaw at 11:00 a.m., Enid at 2:00 p.m., and Bixby at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday they will play Southwest Covenant at 9:00 a.m., Lincoln Christian at 11:00 a.m., and Southeast at 2:00 p.m.
