CPHS Wrestling: Sandites place second in two preseason tournaments
/The Sand Springs high school and junior high Keystone Kids wrestling club has made a strong start to the year with three preseason tournament appearances. The high school season won’t officially start till December 3rd when they dual Stillwater on the road.
The Sandites kicked off the year with the USAW Preseason Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa. Team scores weren’t kept at the tournament, but the Sandites were ninth out of more than 400 teams in total pins and 50th in match points.
The Sandites took second place in the High School Boys division at the Broken Arrow Open, eighth in High School Girls, 14th in 6th/7th Grade Boys, and 12th in Junior High Boys. The high school team was second in total pins, third in technical falls, and third in total match points.
At the Union IceFighter Open they finished second in High School Boys, eighth in Junior High Boys, and 12th in 6th/7th Grade Boys. The high school team was fourth in total pins and second in match points.

High School
Christian Forbes won the 106-pound bracket 11-1 against Damien Terrel (Stilwell), 7-2 against Corban Zugelder (Catoosa), and 4-0 against Ethan Rodriguez (Broken Arrow).
Blake Jones won the 145-pound bracket, pinning Jaden Winkler (Stilwell) in 1:40 and Darius Morgan (Vinita) in 2:44, won a 6-1 decision over David Mendoza (Catoosa).
Ethan White took gold at 152A. He beat Devin Vazquez (Broken Arrow) 9-7 in sudden victory, won a 3-2 decision against Jose Flores (Longhorns), and pinned Bobby Felts (Muskogee) in 0:31.
Ethan Norton was runner-up at 126, beating Matt Ruley (Jenks) 3-2 in sudden victory overtime, and pinned Keeton Gilman (Vinita) in 1:27 before falling to Mike Edwards (Glenpool).
Caleb Phillips placed second at 138A, pinning Asa Plumlee (Muskogee) in 0:48 and majoring Bryce Kegley (Pryor) 10-1 before falling to Cale Crawford (Broken Arrow).
Joshua Fincannon came in runner-up at 220, pinning Max Dixon (Pryor) in 0:47, and beating Isaac Guinn (Claremore) 4-1 and Cade Poschen (Enid) 4-2. He lost 15-4 to State Champion Emmanuel Skillings (Broken Arrow) in the finals.
Nichlas Huelsenbeck went 3-2 for fourth place at 126. He beat Cole McDonald (Vinita) 6-4 and 5-2, and Braden Hurst (Pryor) 5-0, but fell to Mike Edwards (Glenpool) and Dylan Brown (Vinita).
Caden Vaughn went 2-2 for fourth place at 120. He majored Jarrod Gillam (Union) 14-2 and pinned Carter Henderson (Longhorns) in 1:39, but fell 3-1 to Casey Gross (Broken Arrow) and 4-0 to Ryker Agee (Ponca City).
Shane Wolf went 2-2 at 106, pinning Damien Terrel (Stilwell) in 1:46 and winning a 6-0 decision against Brock Hickman (Coweta). He was pinned twice by James Peach (Pryor).
Harley Newberry went 2-2 at 113, beating Cheemeng Lor (Longhorns) 15-1 and Court Hallman (Bristow) 8-2 before falling to Jayce Caviness (Stilwell) and Gage Eaton (Wagoner).
Chase White went 2-2 at 160 with a forfeit and a 7-3 decision against Joey Girty (Warner). He was beaten twice by Cody Hicks (Durant), once by pin and once by 8-0 major decision.
Thomas Naugle went 2-2 at 182, pinning Bobby Silva (Pryor) in 1:39 and Jacob Nelson (Warner) in 2:19. He was pinned by Garrett Weis (Jenks) and majored 10-2 by Adam Brown (Stilwell).
Brooks Dudley went 2-2 at 220, pinning Elijah Fadeyev (Coweta) in 1:20 and Jorden Jauregui (Sallisaw) in 3:36 before falling 18-7 to Emmanuel Skillings (Broken Arrow) and getting pinned by Isaac Guinn (Claremore).
Colton Luker went 1-2 at 126A, receiving a forfeit, but falling to Alex Prince (Vinita) and Garrett Moss (Vinita).
Sango Whitehorn went 1-2 at 195, receiving a forfeit. He was pinned by Cade Ward (Glenpool) and Ethan Felts (Jenks).
Sammy Naugle went 0-2 at 120, falling to Dylan Ralston (Bristow) and Teyton Burns (Bristow).
Hunter Hilger went 0-2 at 126A, falling to Josh Rexwinkle (Vinita) and Garrett Moss (Vinita).
Preston Medlin went 0-2 at 152 losing a 7-1 decision to Agustus Edwards (Glenpool) and 2-1 to to Trey Howard (McAlester).
Dakota Taylor went 0-2 at 160A, falling to Nickey Chinoska (Enid) and losing a 6-5 decision to JC Lohmann (Union).
Junior High
Mitchell Smith won the 112A bracket with three pins, beating Carsen Reich (Jenks) in 2:00, Tripp Miller (McAlester) in 1:21, and Hunter Tadych (Vinita) in 0:44.
Jesse Moore placed third at 112 pounds with a 4-1 record. He pinned Joel Brockup (Longhorns) in 2:44, teched Holden Gilstrap (Coweta) 15-0, and beat Tagan Martin (Pryor) 4-2 and Adam Lohmann (Union) 5-0. His only loss was a 15-0 quarterfinal tech fall to Jack Swenson (Ponca City).
Adrian Flores went 5-1 for third place at 155 pounds. After losing his first match to Mike Foster (Union) he pinned Madux Palmer (Pryor) in 1:38, Evan Williams (Sand Springs) in 1:37, John Paul Warren (Pryor) in 2:22, and Zane Corey (Wagoner) in 1:57, and beat Damon Chaffin (Coweta) 7-1.
Jayden Pait took fourth place at 92 pounds, majoring Braiden Sellars (Pryor) 11-2, but falling 19-0 to Blade Walden (Muskogee) and 9-0 to Sergio Aguilar (Ponca City).
Dylan Quinton went 2-2 at 132, pinning Sebastian Woodside (Union) in 0:45 and Riley Waitman (Durant) in 0:57 before falling to Kadin Barbee (Oologah) and Chandler Fortney (Bristow).
Evan Williams went 2-2 at 155, receiving a forfeit and pinning Kaden Newton (Broken Arrow) in 2:00. He was defeated 8-2 by Zane Corey (Wagoner) and pinned by teammate Adrian Flores.
Codey Cramer went 1-2 at 170, pinning Kizer Kilpatrck (Oologah) in 1:57 before falling to Briley Ferguson (Broken Arrow) and Michael Bennett (Union).
Cash Lucas went 1-2 at 195, pinning Jack Harber (Longhorns) in 1:44, but fell to Jacob Brammer (Broken Arrow) and Cory Eaton (Oologah).
Malachi Wilson went 1-2 at 195, pinning Justin Stover (Coweta) in 1:55, but fell to Garrett Ritter (Bixby) and Lucien Krause (Union).
Ashton Sewell went 0-2 at 112, falling to Hunter Cole (Stilwell) and Joel Brockup (Longhorns).
6th/7th Grade Boys
David Ritchey won the 86-pound bracket with a forfeit and two pins, beating Anderson Bivins (Ponca City) in 1:15 and Brice Goforth (Wagoner) in 2:20.
Riker Rowlan placed fourth at 195. He pinned Noah Mitchell (Pryor) in 0:31 and Tyler Blanton (Union) in 0:29, but fell 1-0 to Daysun Sanders (Stilwell) and 7-5 to Wura Yinusa (Union).
Colton Chambers went 1-2 at 73 pounds, majoring Taz Cagle (Oologah) 12-0. He was pinned by Rhett Clayton (Ft. Gibson) and majored 9-1 by Morgan Duke (Sallisaw).
Cyden Reif went 0-2 at 73 pounds, falling to David Farmer (Ft. Gibson) and Boston Winkler (Longhorns).
Jackson Burdge went 0-2 at 112, falling to Owen Jones (Broken) Arrow in 0:59, and giving up a 3-1 sudden victory decision to Tripp LeVan (Union).

High School Boys
Brendon Wiseley won the 106-pound bracket handily, pinning Curtis Brantley (North DeSoto) in 0:16 and majoring Colby Strachan (Bartlesville) 12-0 and Douglas Holt (Glenpool) 9-0 before receiving a forfeit from teammate Christian Forbes in the finals.
Christian Forbes was second in the 106-pound bracket, beating Zamar Gardner (Cascia Hall) 18-3, Zeke Wheeler (Owasso) 4-3, and Ethan Rodriguez (Broken Arrow) 5-2 before forfeiting to teammate Brendon Wiseley in the finals.
Seth Jones was runner-up at 132A. He beat Andrew Police (Broken Arrow) 8-7, Bronson Burcham (Coweta) 7-1, and Walker Fox (Bentonville) 10-0, but was majored 12-1 by Jacob Adams (Bentonville).
Blake Jones took second at 145A. He pinned Branson Briggs (Oologah) in 1:29, majored CJ Clifton (Coweta) 12-4, and defeated Kolby Encinas (Pryor) 2-0 before falling to Brayden Barnett (Broken Arrow).
Caleb Phillips took third place at 138 with a 3-1 record. He was pinned by Ethan Gilkey (Bartlesville) in his opening match, but won out with a 12-3 major decision against Jonathan Kelvington (Jenks), a pin of Devin McDarius (Wagoner) in 2:23, and a 5-0 decision against Thomas Moralez (Honey Badger WC).
Chris Kirby took third in 160 with a 5-1 performance. He pinned Carter Manley (Bartlesville) in 1:26, Kanon Springer (Durant) in 0:24, Jason Arnold (Greenwood) in 1:21, Garrett Hill (Bentonville) in 1:04, and Noah Smith (Union) in 0:51. His only loss was to Cody Hicks (Durant) in the quarterfinals.

Jared Douglas went 2-2 at 170, beating Trey Hudgens (Sallisaw) 1-0 and Cole Mallory (Claremore) 4-3 in a tie breaker before falling 3-0 to Ramses Soto (Broken Arrow) and 1-0 to Trey Hudgens (Sallisaw).

Brendon Wiseley went 3-3 for eighth place at 113 pounds. He majored Riece Graham (High Altitude) 11-0, beat Riley Hanson (NWOWC) 5-4 and Moses Santiago (Hawks) 4-2 in sudden victory overtime. He was majored 11-1 by Tristan Mascarenas (Cleveland), was pinned by Brandon Anderson (Cushing) and lost the placement round 7-5 to Robert Sagaris (Aurora) in sudden victory.
Robbie Parrish went 1-3 for eighth place at 285, receiving one forfeit. He was pinned by Josh Vis (Eastern Iowa), Joseph Klutho (Missouri Select), and Denis Tokin (Pinnacle).
Caleb Phillips was 2-2 at 138 pounds, pining Paul Nield (Spartan) in 2:12 and Easton White (High Altitude) in 1:43, but fell 12-0 to Randy Myers (Mile High) and 8-1 to Gabriel Pugh (Marshfield).
Chris Kirby went 2-2 at 160 pounds, pinning Jesus Ceja (All-Valley) in 1:33 and Caelen Shannon (DC Elite) in 1:08. He was majored 10-1 by Ben Gilbertson (Sauk Rapids-Rice) and edged out 10-8 by Aidan Nardin (Izzy Style).

Abraham Flores went 3-2 at 132 pounds, pinning Aiden Han-Lindemyer (Pinnacle) in 1:12, Hayden Stout (Northwest Iowa) in 1:28, and Dawson Goodwin (Southeast Iowa) in 1:43. He was defeated 6-0 by AJ Dickerson (West Oak) and 2-0 by Jeremiah McKee (Dakota).
Mitchell Smith went 2-2 at 113 pounds, pinning Easton Schlabaugh (Husky) in 1:48 and winning a 4-2 sudden victory overtime match against Connor Warren (Shakopee). He was teched 16-0 by Owen Uhls (Purler) and lost a 1-0 decision to Kaiser Simpson (Cushing).
Shane Wolf went 0-2 at 106 pounds, losing 18-0 to Vinnie D’Alessandro (Burnett) and 7-0 to Javier Pedro (GI Grapplers).
