CPHS Softball: 5 Sandites make All-District Team, 6 receive honorable mentions

The Charles Page High School fast pitch softball team recently had five players named to the All-District team, following a 23-13 season. Two Sandites received Player of the Year commendations, and six received honorable mentions. The girls went 9-3 for second place in their district, won the Choctaw and Regional Tournaments, and made it to the State Quarterfinals. Head Coach Shelli Brown pushed her career win record to 573-316 (.644).

Sabrina Usher, a Rogers State University-committed senior, was named the Offensive Player of the Year in recognition of her .490 batting average, 1.06 slugging average, and .586 on-base percentage. Usher recorded 38 runs, 51 hits, 10 doubles, 4 triples, 14 home runs, a grand slam, and 58 RBI.

Felicity Horn was named the Defensive Player of the Year as a senior outfielder. Horn’s quick feet made it hard for batters to find any holes on her side of the field, and she was flawless in her fielding with zero errors and numerous high-effort diving catches. She also boasted a .375 batting average, .538 slugging average, and .451 on-base percentage with 28 runs, 39 hits, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 19 RBI and a home run. She will take her talents to Grayson Community College.

Junior pitcher Aliyah Taff made the All-District team with a 13-8 record, 1.13 earned run average, .972 WHIP, and 63 strikeouts. She was also talented on offense with a .324 batting average, .405 slugging average, 9 runs, 24 hits, 6 doubles, and 13 RBI.

Sophomore second baseman Avery Tanner made the All-District team as a utility player. She was .253 batting and .284 slugging with 19 runs, 24 hits, 3 doubles, 15 RBI, 7 sacrifices, 4 steals, and 8 double plays.

Junior shortstop Madison Lee made the All-District team as a utility player. She had a .450 batting average, .568 slugging average, and .504 on-base percentage with 46 runs, 50 hits, 2 doubles, 4 triples, a home run, 18 RBI, 15 steals, and 9 double plays.

Junior Drew Hawkins received an honorable mention. She hit .269 and had a .308 slugging average with 23 runs, 21 hits, 3 doubles, 10 RBI, 7 sacrifices, and 5 steals.

Sophomore Jolee McNally received an honorable mention. She hit .329 with a .343 slugging average and had 18 runs, 23 hits, 1 double, 19 RBI, 9 sacrifices, and 5 steals.

Senior third baseman Makenna Skaggs received an honorable mention with a .289 batting average, .412 slugging average, 24 runs, 28 hits, 6 doubles, 2 home runs, 14 RBI, 3 sacrifices, and 4 steals. She will continue her career at Rose State College.

Senior outfielder Rachael Jones received an honorable mention for her .362 batting average, .466 slugging average, 15 runs, 21 hits, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 14 RBI, 7 sacrifices, and 2 steals.

Senior pitcher and first baseman Mackenzie Bechtold received an honorable mention after pitching an 8-3 record, 3.24 ERA, and 1.50 WHIP with 31 strikeouts. She was .241 batting and .379 slugging with 4 runs, 7 hits, 1 double, 1 home run, 1 grand slam, and 7 RBI. She will play at Connors State College next season.

Freshman Jaden Jordan received an honorable mention with a .278 batting/slugging average, 5 runs, 10 hits, and 3 RBI.
