CPHS Cross Country: Sandites end season with home Regional

The Charles Page High School varsity Cross Country teams ended their season Saturday at the 6A-East Regional Championship. The meet was held at Case Community Park and marked the first time that Sand Springs has ever hosted a Regional.

The Lady Sandites placed 12th of 15 teams, led by sophomore Jazmin Lopez in 23:00.15 for 47th place out of 109 runners. Erika Baker and Victoria Baker were 52nd and 70th, respectively, in their final high school race.

The Sandite Boys placed 12th of 16 teams, led by junior Caleb James in 19:16.48 for 63rd place out of 110 runners. Kaegan Murray finished his high school career with the lone Sandite PR of the day, finishing in 19:44.86 for 71st place. Noah James also ran his last race as a Sandite.

Broken Arrow sophomore Payton Hinkle won the girls’ race in 19:05.04, while Jenks won the Regional with two top-five finishers. Mustang took home the gold in the boys race, led by junior defending State Champion Gabe Simonsen in 16:25.64.

The 5A and 6A State Championship races will be held Saturday, November 2nd at Edmond Santa Fe High School. Deer Creek will be defending their team titles in both genders.
