Keystone Kids Place 3rd at Coweta with 9 Champions

The Keystone Kids wrestling club took third place at the Rumble in the Jungle tournament in Coweta this weekend, bringing nine tournament titles back to Sand Springs.

Girls Results

Raylee Dawes won the 49-pound bracket in 6U, pinning both of her opponents in under a minute.

Saylor Eaglin won the 55-pound bracket in 8U, pinning both of her opponents in a combined 50 seconds.

Kambyr Lee won the 145-pound bracket in 12U with two decisions.

Boys Results

Jayce Parks won the 61-pound bracket in 10U-Novice, pinning all three of his foes in a round-robin.

Kason Wolfe won the 70-pound bracket in 10U-Open with three pins and a decision. He also wrestled up to 12U-Open and won a 4-2 decision over Broken Arrow’s Briggs Mattson in the finals.

Ryder Richardson won the 73-pound bracket in 12U-Open with two pins and an 11-3 major decision in a round robin.

Kayden Worthington won the 145-pound bracket in 15U-Open with two pins and an 11-0 major decision against Coweta’s Jes Mason.

Carter Randall won the 105-pound bracket in 8U-Novice with two pins and also finished as runner-up in the Open division with a 17-second pin.

Daxten Freeman was runner-up at 37 pounds in 6U-Novice, winning two decisions before falling in the finals.

Matthew Parks was runner-up at 46 pounds in 8U-Novice with one pins before falling in the finals.

Juan Holmes was runner-up at 52 pounds in 8U-Novice with one pin.

Derek Brix was runner-up at 61 pounds in 8U-Novice with two pins and an 11-0 major decision before falling in a close 9-7 sudden victory finals match against Collinsville’s Luke Minihan.

Declan Todd was runner-up at 67 pounds in 8U-Open with two decisions before falling in the finals.

Landon Replogle was runner-up at 70 pounds in 8U-Novice with three first-period falls before falling in a close 4-2 decision to Coweta’s Christopher Villanueva.

Kydon Harness was runner-up at 140 pounds in 12U-Open with one pin.

Wes Wilson placed third at 64 pounds in 12U-Open, going 2-2 with two decisions in a round-robin.

Mason Londo placed third at 64 pounds in 10U-Open, winning three consecutive first-period falls after losing his first match in a decision.

Rixon Hathaway lost his first match in a 4-3 decision in the 10U-Open 67-pound bracket but bounced back with two pins for third place.

Legend Dentis placed third at 75 pounds in 8U-Open with one pin.

Brayden Replogle placed third at 90 pounds in 10U-Novice with three consecutive wins and two first-period falls after losing a 4-0 decision to open the day.

Ty Galloway placed third at 110 pounds in 10U-Open with two pins and a 7-5 decision against teammate Rylan Hamby in the consolation finals, only losing a close 6-2 decision in the semifinals. Hamby placed fourth with three first-period falls.

Ryker Dawes went 2-2 for fourth place at 70 pounds in 10U-Open with one pin.

Royce Hefele went 2-2 for fourth place at 105 pounds in 8U-Novice with one pine.

Virginia Beach Duals

Three Keystone Kids competed on Team Oklahoma at the VACW Elementary School National Holiday Duals in Virginia Beach this weekend.

Oklahoma went 1-3 in Pool H and was relegated to the Copper bracket where the Outlaws went 5-2 for fourth place.

Hagan Wolfenberger went 9-1 at 52 pounds with six pins. Karson Waag went 8-2 at 60 pounds with three pins. Hudson Waag went 4-6 at 48 pounds with two falls.

Keystone Kids Crown Three at Ring of Fire

The Keystone Kids wrestling club crowned three champions at the Ring of Fire tournament in Duncan last weekend.

Madden Moore took first place in the 6&Under 52-pound bracket, pinning both of his opponents.

Jett Galloway won the 6&Under 60-pound bracket, pinning his first opponent before winning a 10-3 decision in the next round.

Hudson Waag won the 8&U 46-pound bracket with a 9-0 major decision and a 59-second pin.

Sutton Hawley placed third at 64 pounds in the 10&Under division with a pin, major decision and an 8-4 decision in the consolation finals. His only loss was a fall in the semifinals.

Kason Wolfe placed fourth at 70 pounds in the 10&Under division going 2-2 with a 17-2 technical fall and a 54-second pin.

Mason Londo competed at 64 pounds in the 10&Under division and went 2-2 with two pins, but didn’t place.

Keystone Kids Crown 5 Champions at Battle for the Buckle

Five members of the Keystone Kids wrestling club won their divisions at the Battle for the Buckle tournament in Tuttle last weekend.

Hudson Waag won the 43/46-pound bracket in the 8U division handily, pinning two opponents while majoring two others, including a 10-0 shutout of Chickasha’s Ivan Torres in the finals.

Jett Galloway won the 60/66-pound bracket in the 6U division, pinning two of his three foes in the first minute while notching a 17-7 major decision in the semifinals. In the finals he pinned Cashion’s Grey Edgeman in only 49 seconds for his second tournament title in the past two weeks.

Sutton Hawley won the 64-pound bracket in 10U, pinning his first opponent in only 36 seconds before winning a 14-0 major decision in the semifinals. In the championship match he pinned Myles Turner in 2:21 for his third gold medal in the past two weeks.

Kasen McAffrey won the 15U 145-pound bracket with two falls and a major decision, pinning Denymn Friday in 33 seconds in the finals.

Maverick Spencer placed second at 55 pounds in 6U Open, pinning one opponent while losing a close 10-8 decision to the other. He took first place in the Novice division, pinning his first two opponents before winning a 16-2 major decision against Blanchard’s Tucker Dickerson in the finals.

Maddix Spencer placed second at 67 pounds in 8U, winning a 2-0 decision in the semifinals before falling a close 4-0 to Mustang’s Brady Boles.

Kason Wolfe placed second at 70 pounds in 10U with an 18-2 tech fall and a third-period pin before losing a 6-2 decision to Zeke Jansing in the finals.

Mason Londo placed third in 10U at 67 pounds with two falls and a decision, pinning Bronc Fletcher in 1:27 in the placement round.

Carsten Reiss placed third in 10U at 70 pounds, losing his first match before winning out with two falls and a decision. In the placement round he pinned teammate Ryker Dawes in 1:06.

Dawes pinned his first foe in only 38 seconds. He suffered a semifinal fall but eked out a 1-0 decision against Guthrie’s Maverick Knox before falling to Reiss.

Ty Galloway placed third at 110 pounds in 10U, losing his first match before earning a 7-5 decision and pinning teammate Rylan Hamby in the placement round. Hamby pinned his first opponent in 1:20 en route to the consolation finals.

Brody Wilson placed third in 15U at 120 pounds, going 1-2 with a 9-3 decision in the second round of the round-robin.

Karson Waag placed fourth at 64/67 pounds in 12U, winning a decision before falling in the semifinals. He pinned his first-round consolation opponent before falling 6-0 in the placement round.

Sandite Weekly Sports Roundup: Girls Powerlifting Wins Meet, Wrestling Qualifies 9 for State

The Sand Springs boys wrestling team took fifth place at the OSSAA 6A-East Regional Championship Saturday in Jenks, their highest mark since 2020.

The team qualified nine wrestlers for this weekend’s State Championship, the most since 2018.

The Sandites had a tough regional with nationally ranked Stillwater and Bixby, as well as perennial powerhouse Broken Arrow leading the pack. Owasso edged out the Sandites for fourth place with 147.5 points to 141.5.

Kase Skaggs was the lone finalist with a 6-0 semifinal upset against second-seeded Ponca City junior Jimmy Swenson to avenge a district loss at 106. In the finals he fell to nationally ranked Aydan Thomas from Stillwater.

Mitchell Smith took third place at 150 pounds, winning a 2-1 overtime tiebreaker against Broken Arrow’s Garrett Stinchcomb in the placement round.

Mason Harris placed third at heavyweight with a 4-2 sudden victory takedown against Broken Arrow’s Michael Cook.

Jaxon Trotter placed fourth at 157, losing only to nationally ranked LaDarion Lockett from Stillwater before medical forfeiting the placement round.

David Ritchey, Jayden Pait, Jesse Moore, Ethan White, and Hudson Sheppard placed fifth.

The State tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Jim Norick Arena at the State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.

The Lady Sandites didn’t have any State qualifiers in their first year, placing 42nd out of 64 schools at the OSSAA East Regional.

The Keystone Kids had several top performers at the OKWA Youth State Championship, placing third in Open 8U and ninth in Open 15U.

Hudson Waag, Hagan Wolfenberger, and Ryley Kester won State titles; Sutton Hawley was runner-up; Mason Londo, Karson Waag, and Jace Simms placed third.

Girls Powerlifting

The Lady Sandite powerlifting team won its second meet of the season at Chandler, beating the home team 161 to 110 in team points.

Jaden Jordan won her third meet of the year at heavyweight, taking first in bench at 160 pounds, first in deadlift at 390, and second in squat at 360.

Madison Thompson was runner-up at 220, placing second in squat at 305, second in bench at 150, and fourth in deadlift at 315.

Addily Shotwell was runner-up at 181, placing second in squat at 235, second in bench at 125, and fourth in deadlift at 270.

Gracie Worthington placed third and Olivia Alexander, Bailey Doughty, Kelsi Hilton, and Melanie Skelly placed fourth.

The girls will compete at the Regional Championship in Miami on Tuesday the 28th.

Soccer

The CPHS soccer teams started the preseason with a scrimmage sweep at Grove.

The boys won 4-0 behind two goals from Brian Boyles and one goal apiece from Eli Bise and Dawson Puckett. The girls won 3-0 with a hat trick from Ava Watts.

Both teams will return to action with home scrimmages against Collinsville Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.

Baseball

The Sandite baseball team won its first two scrimmages of the year 6-0 against Mannford and 18-10 against Westmoore.

Gage Elliott and Wyatt Rutledge combined for a nine-strikeout one-hitter against the Pirates on Friday and Rhen Rutledge went 1-of-2 at the plate with a triple, 3 RBI, and a run.

Jackson Turney, Dom Ornelas, and Alex Dudley had two hits apiece against the Jaguars, with Ornelas scoring a 3RBI homer.

The Sandites will travel to Owasso, Glenpool, and Edmond Santa Fe next week and will host Bartlesville on Tuesday and Bixby on Friday.

Sandite Wrestling Falls 59-12 to Bixby at Dual State

The Charles Page High School wrestling team ended the dual season with a 59-12 loss to nationally ranked Bixby (18-3) in the first round of the Dual State tournament Friday in Enid.

The Spartans took a 35-0 lead before heavyweight Mason Harris won a 2-0 decision against Garrett Ritter. Kase Skaggs won a 5-1 decision against Chase Dyer and David Ritchey pinned Tucker Clark to make it 35-12, but the Spartans won the final four matches by fall.

The Sandites ended the year with a 13-5 record, their best mark since 2019.

Sand Springs will return to action at the OSSAA 6A-East Regional Friday at Jenks. The Sandites placed sixth in Regionals last season and will be looking to crown their first Regional Champion since 2019.

Youth

The Keystone Kids wrestling club competed at the OKWA Northwest Regionals in Newkirk on Saturday and won the Open 15U category. The Keystone Kids had ten total champions, including several members of the Charles Page High School team.

Ayreson Reiss, Preston Reyna, Jace Simms, Hagan Wolfenberger, Isaac Sensintaffar, Hudson Waag, Na’Kya Canady, Karson Waag, Sutton Hawley, Ryley Kester all won their divisions.

Kason Wolfe, Ryker Dawes, Trey Tunnell, and Kydon Harness finished as runners-up; Mason Londo, Audree Robinson, and Rowdy Ash placed third; Holden Yingst, Maddix Spencer, Carsten Reiss, and Hunter Fields placed fourth; Ethan Schueler placed fifth; and Joshua Compton placed sixth.

All top-eight finishers qualified for the 45th annual OKWA State Championship that will be held February 17-18 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Pavilion.

The Charles Page High School boys wrestling team (13-4) suffered a pair of tough losses last week, falling 35-21 to No. 4 Broken Arrow (9-2) on Tuesday and 62-10 to No. 2 Stillwater (11-1) on Thursday.

The Sandites will travel to No. 11 Owasso (4-7) on Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season at the Glenpool Warrior Classic over the weekend.

Sand Springs hosted its first ever girls wrestling tournament Friday at Clyde Boyd Middle School, drawing 22 varsity programs and 18 junior high squads.

Springdale Har-Ber won the inaugural high school tournament while Perry won the junior high event. Sand Springs placed sixth in varsity and fifth in junior high.

Bailey Copeland won the Sandites’ lone gold medal, pinning both of her opponents in the junior high 82-pound bracket.

In junior high: Rylee Allen placed second, Sawyer Briscoe and Ananiah King were fourth, Camden Carrison and Cailey Miller were fifth, and Lyla Waldren and Stefane Ortiz placed sixth.

Gracie Young and Kelsi Hilton led the varsity girls with runner-up performances. Laila Mirza placed fourth, Addily Shotwell was fifth, Madison Chambers placed sixth, and Kreedence Behnke was eighth.

The junior high boys took second place in a tight three-way race at the Ted Anderson Tournament in Edmond on Saturday. The Sandites finished only 13 points behind Bixby while edging out Broken Arrow by 1.5 points.

Kaden Pope and Hudson Sheppard won their brackets; Ryley Kester, Brady Moore, and Jaxon Grigsby were runners up; Kasen McAffery placed third; and Issac Sensintaffer finished fourth.

The Keystone Kids placed seventh out of 100 teams at the OKUSA Youth Wrestling State Championship with four champions and four runners-up.

Brackton Upton, Hagan Wolfenberger, and Jaxon Trotter all won their divisions while Hudson Waag, Karson Waag, and Bryson Pope were runners up. Kydon Harness was a double-finalist, winning in Beginner and placing second in Open.

Ryker Dawes, Collin Randall, Maddix Spencer, and Ayreson Reiss placed third. Brenntly Taylor, Eric Foust, Mason Londo, and Maddox Pope placed fourth.

Baseball

Sandite catcher Dominic Ornelas announced his commitment to Northern Oklahoma College at Enid Tuesday on Twitter. Also headed to NOC-Enid is pitcher and second baseman Jabe Schlehuber, who committed in November.

Football

Sand Springs seniors Kyle Morrall and Jacob Blevins announced their commitment to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. There they will be reunited with former Sandite assistant coach Jason Medrano, who recently took over as Offensive Coordinator for the Rangers.

Brody Rutledge, the Sandites’ leading receiver, committed to Northeastern State University on Tuesday. There he will join former Sand Springs teammates Gabe Brown, Landon Hendricks, and Blake Jones.
