CPHS Baseball: Cal Watkins signs with Seminole State College

Charles Page High School senior Cal Watkins signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play baseball for Seminole State College.

Watkins is a third-year Shortstop for the varsity team. As a junior he batted .339 with a .393 slugging average, .419 on-base percentage, 38 hits, 32 runs, 15 RBI, and 17 steals. He was named to the Academic All-Frontier Valley Conference team last season.

Seminole went 41-12 last year and will be led by first-year Head Coach Mack Chambers in the coming season. The Trojans have won 37 Region 2 Titles and 15 South Central District Titles.

Watkins will begin his senior season February 11th with a home scrimmage against Booker T. Washington. The Sandites are coming off a 24-12 finish under first-year Head Coach James Garrison. After a 4-6 start to the season they won fourteen games in a row and earned the first place trophy at the Spartan/Tiger Turf War. They went 2-2 at the Regional Championship and were eliminated by State Semifinalist Owasso.
