CPHS Baseball: Cale Savage signs with Northern Oklahoma College
/Charles Page High School senior Cale Savage signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play baseball for Northern Oklahoma College at Enid.
Savage plays First and Third base and pitches for the Sandites and is entering his third year on the varsity team. He holds a .317 batting average, .433 slugging average, and .433 on-base percentage with 52 hits, 27 runs, 41 RBI, 1 home run, and 15 steals. He mostly pitches in relief and holds a 1-1 record with a 3.1 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 15.2 innings. He was given an All-State Honorable Mention in 2017.
Northern Oklahoma College is based out of Tonkawa with satellite campuses in Enid and Stillwater. The Enid school has its own athletics program established in 2001 competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region Two. The Jets have won three Conference Championships, four Regionals Championships, three District Championships, and placed third at the NJCAA World Series in 2002 and 2018. They went 48-16 last season under Head Coach Raydon Leaton, who has led the team since its inception.
Savage will begin his senior season February 11th with a home scrimmage against Booker T. Washington. The Sandites are coming off a 24-12 finish under first-year Head Coach James Garrison. After a 4-6 start to the season they won fourteen games in a row and earned the first place trophy at the Spartan/Tiger Turf War. They went 2-2 at the Regional Championship and were eliminated by State Semifinalist Owasso.
