CPHS Baseball: Sandites top Booker T. Washington 2-0, Ash strikes out five

Cal Watkins scored both runs in a 2-0 win at Booker T. Washington High School.

The Charles Page High School varsity baseball team (22-9) outhit, out-batted, and out-fielded Booker T. Washington High School (15-16) in a non-district 2-0 road victory Thursday night.

Cal Watkins gave his team the lead right out of the gate thanks to a single and a series of mistakes by the Hornets. Watkins took second on an error, third on a passed ball, and scored on a wild pitch for a first inning lead.

Watkins scored the second run as well, once again with help from the Hornets. A walk, a steal, a passed ball, and a sacrifice fly from Ty Steelman brought in the final run of the game.

Tyler Ash (3-1) got the start and the win on the mound, throwing one hit, five strikeouts, and two walks in four innings.

Seth Villines (1-0) threw one walk and one strikeout in the fifth inning. Riley Rutledge (1-0) recorded his first save with two strikeouts in the final two innings.

Sand Springs Baseball will return to action Friday at 4:00 p.m. for their final game of the regular season against Southmoore (7-25, 2-8). Senior Night celebrations will follow the game.
