CPHS Soccer: Norman Soccer sweeps Sand Springs
/The Charles Page High School varsity soccer teams made the long trip to Norman Thursday night for a pair of district matches at Gordon Drummon Field.
The Norman High School Boys (5-8, 3-3) won a 3-0 bout against the Sandites (4-8, 0-5) and the Lady Tigers clenched the district title with a 10-0 shutout.
Ethan Tippit saved a shot from Cole Powers five minutes into the boys’ game but Powers made a header on a corner kick just seconds later. Lenni Arrens put back goal two in the 48th minute in the middle of a mad six-man scramble in the box.
Grady Wade had a goal called offside in the 57th minute but Arrens made a brace with a header on a corner kick in the 76th minute.
Nate Holladay collected a pair of beautiful shots from Luke Jeffus midway through the second half and Jaden Weiser was aggressive throughout the game.
The Lady Sandites (7-6, 1-5) suffered their third-straight shutout, falling by mercy rule in 42:49. The Norman Girls (12-1, 6-0) clinched the district title with their fifth shutout and biggest win of the season.
Sand Springs Soccer will return to action Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the final matches of the season against Capitol Hill.
