CPHS Soccer: Sandites fall 2-0 to Edison, will play for 3rd Place Saturday

After topping Northwest Classen in a shootout, the Charles Page High School boys' soccer team (2-2) fell 2-0 to Edison Preparatory School (2-1) in the semifinal round of the Edison Green and White Tournament. 

The sixty minute match went scoreless till 11:18 when Merle Dean scored a header, and he almost did it against just a few minutes later. 

Ethan Tippit blocked a penalty kick from Nathan Ronquillo at 28:10, but the Eagles took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Xander Quiroga took over at goalie in the second half and notched a handful of saves, but gave up a goal to Ricardo Lopez at 50:32.

The Sandites will play for third place Saturday at 4:45 p.m. against Bartlesville High School (2-2) while Edison will play Bixby (3-1) in the finals at 8:15 p.m.
