1922 Sand Springs Football Season - Head Coach A.R. Bateman

The Sandites failed to live up to the prior year’s 7-1 mark and finished their fourth season 2-7-1.

September 8, 1922 - Jennings

The season started strong with a 33-0 shutout of Jennings.

September 22, 1922 - Sapulpa

After a bye week, the Sandites (1-1) set out for what would become a historic first meeting with their future archrivals from Sapulpa. Coach Virgil Jones led his Chieftains to a 36-0 win in their season opener. Neither team could have known then that they were playing the first installment of what would one day become Oklahoma’s most heated rivalry.

September 29, 1922 - Drumright

Though far closer than the previous week’s rout, the Sandites (1-2) suffered another shutout defeat 6-0 in their first-ever meeting with Drumright.

October 13, 1922 - Dewey

The Sandites (1-3) suffered their third consecutive loss 33-0 in their first-ever meeting with Dewey.

October 20, 1922 - Haskell

Sand Springs (1-4) dropped its fourth consecutive shutout 12-0 at the hands of Haskell, who evened the series to 1-1.

October 27, 1922 - Kiefer

The Sandites (1-4-1) got a break from losing in the form of a 0-0 tie with Kiefer.

November 3, 1922 - Bristow

Once again the Sandites (1-4-2) forced a tie, this time 7-7 against Bristow.

November 10, 1922 - Collinsville

Even down on their luck, the Sandites (2-4-2) were too much for the Collinsville Cardinals, and won 34-6 to improve to 3-0 in the series.

November 17, 1922 - Bartlesville Central

The Sandites’ spirits wouldn’t stay high for long, however, and they soon suffered a 6-0 loss to Bartlesville to even the series at 2-2.

November 24, 1922 - Bixby

The season wrapped up with a 19-14 loss to Bixby in the first-ever meeting between the two future rivals.

1921 Sand Springs Football Season - Head Coach A.R. Bateman

Coming off a 4-5 season, Sand Springs High School entered its third year with high hopes and lots of talent, posting a 7-1 record with three shutouts.

September 23, 1921 - Skiatook

The Sandites opened the season with a bang, 59-0 against Skiatook in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. It was also the highest-scoring and biggest win in the young Sandite history.

November 5, 1921 - Bartlesville Central

Sand Springs got payback against Bartlesville 22-6 to improve the series record to 2-1.

November 11, 1921 - Oklahoma Military Academy

The Sandites’ lone loss on the season was a 42-0 drubbing at the hands of the Oklahoma Military Academy - hardly a fair match against military cadets.

November 24, 1921 - Caney Valley

Sand Springs won its first meeting with Caney Valley via 7-0 shutout.

Other Games

With no confirmed dates, and in no particular order, the Sandites also won 16-6 against Chelsea, 49-6 against Collinsville, 49-7 against Glenpool, and 7-0 against Haskell.

1920 Sand Springs Football Season - Head Coach A.R. Bateman

Fresh off a 6-3 campaign in their first ever year of football, the Sandites continued their previous season’s win streak into the new year with high hopes under new head coach A.R. Bateman, a former three-year standout running back from Texas A&M.

After a promising 2-0 start with a pair of shutouts, however, Sand Springs High School was soon derailed and ended the year 4-5.

September 24, 1920 - Collinsville

Sand Springs (1-0) won its fourth consecutive game by way of a 32-0 shutout in its first-ever meeting with the Collinsville Cardinals.

October 16, 1920 - Nuyaka

The Sandites (2-0) won their fifth consecutive game 48-0 against Nuyaka, a young oil town in Okmulgee County that no longer exists. The high school in 1968, cementing the Sandites’ undefeated record against the Braves.

October 23, 1920 - Bristow

Bristow snapped the Sandites’ streak 27-6 to improve to 2-0 in the series.

October 30, 1920 - Bartlesville Central

The Sandites (2-2) stalled out again on the road at Bartlesville, as Central High School won 43-7 to avenge its prior year’s loss.

November 5, 1920 - Claremore

Sand Springs (3-2) got back in the win column with a 21-0 home shutout of Claremore.

November 12, 1920 - Pawhuska

Pawhuska (4-3) got a big 45-7 win on its home front.

November 19, 1920 - Chandler

Homefield advantage wasn’t enough for the Sandites (3-4) as Chandler paid back the prior year’s loss with a 48-0 drubbing.

November 26, 1920 - Tulsa Central

The down streak continued for Sand Springs (3-5) and Tulsa Central dealt the Sandites their biggest loss yet, 66-0.

December 3, 1920 - Glenpool

Refusing to end the year on a bad note, the Sandites (4-5) returned to form with a new school record 54-0 shutout of Glenpool in the season finale.

1919 Sand Springs Football Season - Head Coach Ivan Grover

The first ever season of Sandite football was played in 1919 under head coach Ivan Grover. Sand Springs High School finished its inaugural season with a 6-3 record and a three-game win streak.

October 4, 1919 - Okmulgee

The Sandites lost their first game by shutout, either 56-0 or 65-0, to Okmulgee.

October 11, 1919 - Bristow

The Bristow Pirates dealt Sand Springs its second loss, 20-0.

October 17, 1919 - Kiefer

Sand Springs recorded its first win in program history against the Kiefer Trojans, 6-0.

October 24, 1919 - Broken Arrow

With their first win under their belts, the Sandites had new life and blew out Broken Arrow 48-6.

October 31, 1919 - Euchee

A precursor to the Highway 97 Rivalry that wouldn’t start till 1922, the Sandites got their first Sapulpa win against Euchee, 52-0 on Halloween.

November 7, 1919 - Dewey

The Sandites’ first-ever winning streak came to a close on the road in a 25-6 loss at Dewey (3-1).

November 14, 1919 - Bartlesville Central

A new win streak was kicked off against Bartlesville Central, 19-7.

November 21, 1919 - Chandler

The Sandites won their first ever meeting with Chandler either 19-7 or 13-0 on their home field.

November 27, 1919 - Vinita

Sand Springs wrapped up its first season with a 26-7 Thanksgiving Day victory on the home field against Vinita (3-5).
