CPHS Softball: Kimi Presnell signs with Rogers State University

Charles Page High School senior Kimi Presnell signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play softball for Rogers State University.

Presnell was a four-year starter for the Lady Sandites at second base. As a senior she amassed a .462 batting average, .808 slugging average, and .529 on-base percentage with 48 hits, 44 runs, 26 RBI, 6 home runs, and 15 stolen bases.

RSU is located in Claremore, Oklahoma and competes in the National Collegiate Athletics Association Division II in the Heartland Conference. They will be joining the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in Fall of 2019. The Hillcats went 39-20 last season for a Conference Championship, led by fourth-year Head Coach Andrea Vaughan. It was their best record ever at the NCAA Division II level and Vaughan was named Conference and NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.

The Lady Sandites won four-straight Regional Championships during Presnell’s career, as well as the 2018 Bixby Tournament title and 6A Academic State Titles in 2016 and 2018. They made four State Tournament appearances and one State finals appearance in 2015.

Presnell was named to the All-District team in 2017 and 2018, was District Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 and made the All-Region and All-State teams this season.

CPHS Basketball: Destiny Johnson signs with University of Tulsa

Charles Page High School senior Destiny Johnson signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play basketball for the University of Tulsa.

Johnson is a fourth-year starter for the varsity squad and was the number-two scorer on the team last season. She averaged 16.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game last season with a 48.1% field goal percentage and 65.7% free throw percentage. She recorded three double-doubles and led her team in scoring on ten occasions with a career-high of 31 points.

The University of Tulsa competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I and the American Athletic Conference. They went 10-21 last season under eighth-year Head Coach Matilda Mossman.

The Lady Sandites went 18-8 last season and advanced to the State Tournament for the second-straight year. They won their third-straight Bishop Kelley Invitational Championship, second-straight Regional Championship, and second-straight Area Championship. The Sandites also won the Coffeyville Interstate Classic during Johnson’s freshman and sophomore years and the Frontier Valley Conference Championship her sophomore year.

Johnson was named FVC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. She made the FVC All-Conference team as a sophomore and junior and the All-Bishop Kelley Tournament team as a junior.

Johnson’s senior season will kick off November 27th at Ponca City High School.

CPHS Softball: Jacie Taber signs with Missouri State University

Charles Page High School senior Jacie Taber signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play softball for Missouri State University.

Taber was a four-year starter for the Lady Sandites at pitcher and outfielder. As a senior she batted .411 with a .558 slugging average, .426 on-base percentage, 39 hits, 30 runs, 28 RBI, 2 home runs, and 11 steals.

Taber pitched a 6-1 record, 1.59 earned run average, 1.29 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts in 39.2 innings as a senior. In her career she went 35-11 with one save, a 1.99 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 255 strikeouts in 292.1 innings.

Missouri State is located in Springfield, Missouri and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division I level in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears went 32-20 last season under 31-year Head Coach Holly Hesse. Hesse has led her teams to a 781-767-2 record with two MVC regular season titles, five MVC Tournament titles, and five NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Lady Sandites won four-straight Regional Championships during Taber’s career, as well as the 2018 Bixby Tournament title and 6A Academic State Titles in 2016 and 2018. They made four State Tournament appearances and one State finals appearance in 2015.

Taber was named to the All-District team in 2016, 2017, and 2018 and was the District Pitcher of the Year the last two years. She made the All-Region and All-State teams in 2018.

CPHS Basketball: Holly Kersgieter signs with University of Kansas

Charles Page High School senior Holly Kersgieter signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play basketball for the University of Kansas.

Kersgieter is a fourth-year starter for the varsity squad and was the number-one scorer on the team last season. She averaged 18.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game with a 49.7% field goal percentage and 73.1% free throw percentage. She recorded four double-doubles and led her team in scoring on sixteen occasions with a career-high of 29 points.

The University of Kansas is located in Lawrence and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I in the Big 12 Conference. They went 12-18 last season under fourth-year Head Coach Brandon Schneider.

The Lady Sandites went 18-8 last season and advanced to the State Tournament for the second-straight year. CPHS Basketball: Isabella Regalado signs with Northeastern State University

Charles Page High School senior Isabella Regalado signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play basketball for Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Regalado is a fourth-year varsity player and was the number-three scorer on the team last season. She averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebound per game last season with a 31.3% field goal percentage and 69.1% free throw percentage. She led her team in scoring on three occasions with a career-high of 23 points and was given a Frontier Valley Conference Honorable Mention in 2018.

NSU competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. They went 10-17 last season under first-year Head Coach Fala Bullock.
