Walden and Baughman take gold, Mackey snags silver at Moore track meet

The Charles Page High School Track and Field teams traveled to the 2017 Ken Hogan Invitational in Moore Thursday and had yet another solid performance with four gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. The boys placed seventh overall and the girls came in eighth.

The boys' relay teams continued to impress, taking seventh place in the 400 meter and third place in the 3200 runs. The 400 relay has historically been a weak point for the Sandites, but this team finished in 44.85 for the best time in the thirteen years that Sandite Pride has records for. The 3200 team finished in 8:27.66 for their best performance since the 2013 Regional Champion squad.

The girls participated in three relays, taking eleventh in the 800, eighth in the 1600, and third in the 3200 with times of 1:58.84, 4:46.25, and 10:24.84, respectively.

Oklahoma State University-signed senior Cheyenne Walden took first place in all three of her solo runs. She won her second gold medal in the 800 with a time of 2:22.65, seven seconds ahead of the runner-up. She won her ninth gold medal in the 1600 with a time of 5:18.95 and was nine seconds ahead of the runner-up. She won her twentieth-straight and twenty-fourth overall gold medal in the 3200 with a time of 11:04.26, more than a minute ahead of the runner-up. 

Tiqvah Soap also placed top-ten in both the 800 (7th) and 1600 (8th) with times of 2:35.91 and 5:58.40, respectively.

Aden Baughman won his third-straight 800 run with a time of 2:02.24, just barely edging out the runner-up by half a second. He also set a personal-record in the 1600 with a runner-up finish at 4:41.57 and was less than two seconds behind the winner. Ian Baustert took fifth in the 1600 with a time of 4:54.47.

Joel Mackey improved for the third-straight week in the 200 for a runner-up finish in 22.47, less than half a second behind the winner. Ben Nortey also PRed in the 200 for eleventh place with a time of 24.37.

Jacob Smith (6th) and Danny Murray (10th) both placed top-ten for the first time in their careers in the 3200. Smith finished in 10:50.99 and Murray set a PR at 11:14.76. Jaelyn Jackson placed ninth in the 400 with a time of 52.44 and Jacob Garbey placed tenth in the 800 with a time of 2:11.37.

Adrianna Tapp placed eighth in the 100 dash with a time of 13.53 and set a PR of 28.18 in the 200 for twelfth place. Madelyn Adams, Wanageeska Williams, and Leah Kaufman also set PRs in the 200. 

Kristopher Edwards placed sixth in shot put with a distance of 46'11.00".

Sandites earn 3 gold, 1 silver medal at Broken Arrow Track Classic

The Charles Page High School Track and Field teams traveled to the Broken Arrow Track Classic this Friday and put up several solid placements with numerous personal records on both the boys' and girls' teams. The Sandites brought home three gold medals: two for the girls and one for the boys. The boys' team placed eighth out of twelve teams, while the girls placed seventh out of eleven teams.

Oklahoma State University-signed senior Cheyenne Walden won her twenty-second gold medal in the 3200m run, finishing in 11:00.14 to beat the runner-up by 1:19. She hasn't lost a 3200m since her freshman year. Southwestern Oklahoma State-signed senior Alexis Davis placed fourth in the event with a personal record of 12:58.39. Walden also won her seventh gold medal in the 1600m run with a time of 5:17.71. 

Aden Baughman won his first-ever event with a 2:00.66 performance in the 800m run. The junior standout was four seconds ahead of the runner up and improved eleven seconds on his personal record. He also placed third in the 1600 with a time of 4:48.68.

Joel Mackey placed sixth in the 100m dash in 11.20 and sixth in the 200m dash in 23.20. Jaelyn Jackson placed fourth in the 400m dash with a PR of 52:45.

Mackey, Kameron Carpenter, Ben Nortey, and Preston Medlin ran the boys' 400m relay in 45.86 seconds for an eighth place finish and the best Sandite performance in the last two seasons. Nortey had the fastest split of the group in 9.71 seconds. 

Carpenter, Mackey, Pierson Balsters, and Jaelyn Jackson ran the 1600m relay in 3:44.41 for eighth place, knocking 1.3 seconds off their prior week's performance. Carpenter was first out the gate and had the fastest time at 53 seconds.

Madelynn Adams, Kaileeann Worthington, Elizabeth Watts, and Tiqvah Soap placed eleventh in the 1600m relay with a time of 4:46.93, knocking 4.05 seconds off their season-debut time at Owasso. Adams had the fastest split at 1:09.

Jackson, Ian Baustert, Jacob Garbey, and Aden Baughman had a remarkable performance in the 3200m relay, taking second place with a time of 8:34.28. They were only nine seconds behind Union and posted their best time of the past two seasons, improving 14 seconds on their prior performance. Baughman had the best time of the four in 2:03.

The Sandites will return to action Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Stillwater Pioneer Relays.

Sand Springs places eighth at Owasso Invitational Track Meet, Walden takes first in 3200

The Charles Page High School Track and Field teams kicked off the season Friday morning at the Owasso High School Invitational. Both the varsity boys and girls teams placed eighth out of eleven teams, and the JV boys placed sixth of seven teams. 

The Lady Sandites placed six of nine teams in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:46.64. They were 42 seconds behind the first-place squad from Bartlesville, 1:02 ahead of the Owasso B team in last place, and five seconds ahead of the Union varsity squad. They took eighth place in the 4x400 with a time of 4:50.98.

The boys' 4x800 drew fourteen teams and the Sandites came in seventh with a time of 8:48.13. They were thirty seconds behind Edmond Memorial in first place, 1:05 ahead of the Enid B team in last place, and topped the Owasso B team by one one-hundredth of a second. They also placed eighth in the 4x400 in 3:45.79. 

Adrianna Tapp placed thirteenth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.54, followed by Wanageeska Williams in 29th place with a time of 15.11. 

Oklahoma State University-signed senior Cheyenne Walden handily won the the 3200 run with a time of 11:13.29, fifty-five seconds ahead of Bartlesville State-Runner Up Shay Stayton in second place. She also placed third in the 1600 with a time of 5:27.14. Alexis Davis and Sara Abbett also placed in the top-ten of the 3200. Davis placed eighth with a time of 13:30.05, and Abbett took ninth in 13:49.23.

Elizabeth Watts represented the Lady Sandites in the 300 hurdles and took eighth place with a time of 55.12. Stephanie Genn placed tenth in the 400 dash with a time of 1:08.95, followed by Jessica Gibson at 16th in 1:14.69. 

Kaileeann Worthington and Madelynn Adams both had impressive gains on the 200 dash. Worthington knocked a full four seconds off her time, taking 20th place in 30.02. Adams beat her best by more than a second, coming in right behind Worthington in 30.06. Wanageeska Williams finished in 35th with a time of 33.83.

Kameron Carpenter took fourteenth place in the 100 dash with a time of 11.70, followed by Josh Ivy in 34th with a time of 12.69. Kris Edwards ran the 200 in 26.28 for 31st place. 

Aden Baughman placed twelfth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.12, followed by Alex Newport in sixteenth with a time of 53.87. Baughman also took fourth in the 1600 with a time of 4:47.62, followed by Phillip Elleman in 20th place with a time of 5:33.84.

Jaelyn Jackson took fifth place in the 400 dash in 52.93, less than a fifth of a second away from his PR. Pierson Balsters placed eighteenth in 57.66, Kyree Barnett placed 24th in 58.96, and Jacob Baker placed 35th in 1:08.53.

Baker placed eleventh in the long jump with a distance of 15'08.75". Edwards took eleventh in the discus throw with a distance of 104'07.00", followed by Dell Prince in fourteenth place with a distance of 98'03.00". Edwards also took fourth in shot put with a distance of 44'11.50". 

The Sandites will take a few weeks off and will return to action on the Friday the 24th at Broken Arrow High School.
