Sand Springs places eighth at Owasso Invitational Track Meet, Walden takes first in 3200

The Charles Page High School Track and Field teams kicked off the season Friday morning at the Owasso High School Invitational. Both the varsity boys and girls teams placed eighth out of eleven teams, and the JV boys placed sixth of seven teams.
The Lady Sandites placed six of nine teams in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:46.64. They were 42 seconds behind the first-place squad from Bartlesville, 1:02 ahead of the Owasso B team in last place, and five seconds ahead of the Union varsity squad. They took eighth place in the 4x400 with a time of 4:50.98.
The boys' 4x800 drew fourteen teams and the Sandites came in seventh with a time of 8:48.13. They were thirty seconds behind Edmond Memorial in first place, 1:05 ahead of the Enid B team in last place, and topped the Owasso B team by one one-hundredth of a second. They also placed eighth in the 4x400 in 3:45.79.
Adrianna Tapp placed thirteenth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.54, followed by Wanageeska Williams in 29th place with a time of 15.11.
Oklahoma State University-signed senior Cheyenne Walden handily won the the 3200 run with a time of 11:13.29, fifty-five seconds ahead of Bartlesville State-Runner Up Shay Stayton in second place. She also placed third in the 1600 with a time of 5:27.14. Alexis Davis and Sara Abbett also placed in the top-ten of the 3200. Davis placed eighth with a time of 13:30.05, and Abbett took ninth in 13:49.23.
Elizabeth Watts represented the Lady Sandites in the 300 hurdles and took eighth place with a time of 55.12. Stephanie Genn placed tenth in the 400 dash with a time of 1:08.95, followed by Jessica Gibson at 16th in 1:14.69.
Kaileeann Worthington and Madelynn Adams both had impressive gains on the 200 dash. Worthington knocked a full four seconds off her time, taking 20th place in 30.02. Adams beat her best by more than a second, coming in right behind Worthington in 30.06. Wanageeska Williams finished in 35th with a time of 33.83.
Kameron Carpenter took fourteenth place in the 100 dash with a time of 11.70, followed by Josh Ivy in 34th with a time of 12.69. Kris Edwards ran the 200 in 26.28 for 31st place.
Aden Baughman placed twelfth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.12, followed by Alex Newport in sixteenth with a time of 53.87. Baughman also took fourth in the 1600 with a time of 4:47.62, followed by Phillip Elleman in 20th place with a time of 5:33.84.
Jaelyn Jackson took fifth place in the 400 dash in 52.93, less than a fifth of a second away from his PR. Pierson Balsters placed eighteenth in 57.66, Kyree Barnett placed 24th in 58.96, and Jacob Baker placed 35th in 1:08.53.
Baker placed eleventh in the long jump with a distance of 15'08.75". Edwards took eleventh in the discus throw with a distance of 104'07.00", followed by Dell Prince in fourteenth place with a distance of 98'03.00". Edwards also took fourth in shot put with a distance of 44'11.50".
The Sandites will take a few weeks off and will return to action on the Friday the 24th at Broken Arrow High School.
