Sandite Recruiting Report: Taiona Morris Commits to NEO

5’7” senior guard Taiona “Yonnie” Morris announced her commitment to play basketball at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Saturday afternoon on X.

“I (am) beyond blessed to say that I will be continuing my athletic & academic career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College,” tweeted Morris.

“None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for GOD, my loving family with their support & my parents who I am beyond grateful for for making the sacrifices they have to get me to all of my AAU practices, tournaments and etc. over the course of 5-6 years.”

“Just about 6 years ago, I had started playing the game of basketball. I would’ve never thought I’d make it this far knowing that I’ve picked up a ball late compared to everyone else. But if it wasn’t for Future Stars Athletics Training I wouldn’t be the player I am today, who’s accomplished so much talent over the past couple of years.”

“So thank you to everyone who’s believed in me and made sacrifices to support me and my future. I am so excited to play at the next level, create a brighter future for myself & I can’t wait to make you all proud.”

NEO is an NJCAA program located in Miami. The Lady Norse have been a perennial power under 19th-season head coach Jim Rowland, who led the program to five consecutive Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference titles from from 2014 to 2018. NEO went 14-13 last season and is 1-3 this year.

Morris also received offers from Eastern Oklahoma State College and Coffeyville Community College. She is one of three Sandites courting college attention this season.

Sandite Recruiting Report: Evan Williams Commits to Bethel College

Senior lineman/TE Evan Williams (5’10”, 215 pounds) announced on X Friday that he has committed to play collegiate football at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas.

“I can’t wait to continue my academic and my athletic career at Bethel college,” tweeted Williams.

“I want to thank God for all he has done for me to have the opportunity to play at the next level.”

“I also want to thank my Mom for all you did for me growing up: running me house to house, getting me to the summer workouts and all the practices. Thank you for all you do for our family.”

The Threshers compete in the NAIA and are led by first-year head coach A.B. Stokes. The Threshers have won back-to-back Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference championships and are currently 6-4 in the current season.

Before being offered by Bethel, Williams also received offers to play at Kansas Wesleyan University, Hendrix College, Lyons College, and Oklahoma Wildcats Prep.

Kelsi Hilton Signs With Southern Nazarene University Softball

Charles Page High School senior Kelsi Hilton signed a letter of intent to play college softball at Southern Nazarene University Wednesday morning at the Ed Dubie Field House.

Hilton was an All-State, All-District, and All-Region selection this season after helping the Lady Sandites to a 19-15 record and Regional Runner-Up finish.

She batted .430 with a .550 slugging average and .468 on-base percentage, hitting six doubles and two home runs to score 30 runs and 19 RBI.

Hilton committed only three errors on the season while playing shortstop and third base in addition to her time in the circle where she went 5-4 with a 5.4 ERA, striking out nearly 20% of the batters she faced. She also pitched a perfect game on Senior Night against Booker T. Washington.

Southern Nazarene University is an NCAA Division II program in Bethany, Oklahoma competing in the Great American Conference. The Crimson Storm went 25-28 last season under fourth-year head coach Brian Madden.

Kelsi Hilton Makes All-State Softball Team

Senior pitcher and infielder Kelsi Hilton has been named to the Oklahoma Fast Pitch Coaches Association (OFPCA) All-State team, marking the sixth consecutive year a Sandite has received the honor. She is the 50th all-time selection from Sand Springs.

The Sandites went 19-15 overall this season, falling in the Regional finals at Edmond Memorial.

Sandite Recruiting Report: Kayden Campbell Commits to Cowley County for Baseball

Senior RF/LHP Kayden Campbell (5’9” 165 pounds) announced on X, formerly Twitter, Saturday that he has committed to playing college baseball at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kansas.

The Tigers went 39-22 last season under sixth-year head coach Darren Burroughs. Cowley went 54-11 and was NJCAA Runner-Up as recently as 2022.

Campbell is one of seven Sandite baseball players committed to playing at the next level.
