CPHS Tennis: Sandites place 15th at Jenks

The Charles Page High School boys’ tennis team kicked off the season with a fifteenth place finish at the Jenks Invitational.

Logan Bateman placed twelfth in No. 1 Singles with a consolation win over Henryetta’s Grant Holder. Colby Williams defeated Adam Bodick (Ponca City) and Cory Knox (Henryetta) for thirteenth place in No. 2 Singles.

The doubles teams both took fifteenth place. Aries Howard and Tanner Burgess defeated the Stillwater duo in No. 1 Doubles. Dylan Warren and Hayden Ashcroft received a default from Union in No. 2 Doubles.

Head Coach Drew White was pleased with his team’s performance, calling it a huge improvement from last year.

The Lady Sandites didn’t get to compete due to a Jenks scheduling error, but will kick off the season Saturday morning at Union. The Boys will play at Union on Friday.

CPHS Tennis: Lady Sandites send four to State Tournament

The Charles Page High School varsity tennis team sent four athletes to the OSSAA 6A State Tournament last week for the first time in school history.

Abigail McGehee qualified in #1 Singles and Delaney Blaylock qualified in #2 Singles. Madison Blaylock and Lindsey Smith qualified in #2 Doubles.

Bixby won the tournament overall and Jenks came in Runner-Up. 

The Boys' State Tournament will be held May 11-12 at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. Sand Springs did not qualify any athletes.

The Charles Page High School varsity tennis teams competed at Union High School last month.

Logan Bateman placed thirteen in #1 Singles with wins over Oklahoma Bible and Metro Christian. Caleb Bundy placed fifteenth in #2 Singles with a win over Metro Christian Academy. Colby Williamson/Dylan Kirk placed sixteenth in #1 Doubles and Aries Howard/Sean Kuehn placed fifteenth in #2 Doubles with a win over Oklahoma Bible. 

Abigail McGeehee placed thirteenth in #1 Singles at the Union Tournament with wins over Stillwater and Booker T. Washington. Delaney Blaylock placed fifteenth in #2 Singles with a win over Enid. Almarez/Milsap placed sixteenth in #1 Doubles, and Blaylock/Smith placed twelfth in #2 Doubles.

 

CPHS Tennis: Madison Englestead qualifies for State Championship

The Charles Page High School tennis teams are in the final stretch of the season. After competing at the Union Invitational last week and the Regional Tournament this week, one Lady Sandite will progress to the State Tournament. Madison Englestead will compete in No. 2 Singles at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center this Friday and Saturday. The boys will play their Regional Tournament next Monday at Union.

At last Monday's Union Invitational the boys' team took thirteenth place. Dakota Mitchell placed thirteenth in No. 1 Singles with a victory over Cascia Hall. Quintin Wimer defeated Roman Bandy of Metro Christian and Jordan Knox of Henryetta for tenth place in No. 2 Singles. Caleb Bundy and Aries Howard placed sixteenth in No. 1 Doubles, while Logan Bateman and Dalten Fix placed twelfth in No. 2 Doubles with a victory over Metro Christian. The girls took sixteenth at Union, led by Englestead in twelfth place with a victory over Broken Arrow's Sheridian Reeder.

Dakota Mitchell and Quintin Wimer both qualified for State last season. Mitchell qualified in No. 1 Singles but didn't place. Wimer qualified in No. 2 Doubles with Nashoba Pannell, who graduated last year. Wimer and Pannell placed eighth.

Abigail McGehee and Dakota Mitchell place third at Bartlesville Invitational

The Charles Page High School varsity tennis teams recently competed at the Bartlesville Invitational. Both the Boys' and Girls' teams had solid outings with several impressive finishes. The Lady Sandites tied with Tahlequah for sixth place while Owasso brought home the gold. The boys took sixth outright with the host team winning overall.

Abigail McGehee took third place in Girls' #1 Singles, defeating Guthrie's Kiah Thomas and Owasso's Abbey Jordan. Dakota Mitchell took third place in Boys' #1 Singles with wins over Tahlequah's Dante Scavone and Muskogee's Aaron Adams.

Logan Bateman took fourth in Boys' #2 Singles with a victory against Hunter Swartzbaugh of Guthrie. Madison Englestead took fifth place in Girls' #2 Singles with wins over Guthrie's Lilli Goode and Muskogee's Emma Eaton.

Both the #1 and #2 Girls' Doubles teams took eighth place, as well as #1 Boys' Doubles. Dalten Fix and Caleb Bundy took sixth place in #2 Doubles with a victory over McAlester.

The Charles Page High School Varsity Tennis teams recently competed at the Jenks Invitational Tournament. The girls' team took 15th place while the boys tied with Ponca City for 14th place.

Abigail McGehee competed in #1 Singles for the girls and took twelfth place. Madison Englestead took eleventh place in #2 Singles with wins over Sloane Johnston of Metro Christian Academy and Muskogee's Samantha Estes.

Delaney Blaylock and Hallie West took fifteenth place in #1 Doubles and Betsy Almaraez and Alesha Milsap took fifteenth in #2 Doubles. Both teams scored wins over their Highway 97 rivals from Sapulpa.

Quintin Wimer took thirteenth place in #1 Singles for the boys with wins over Andrew Wilson of Sapulpa and Drew Callant of Enid. Logan Bateman placed thirteenth in #2 Singles with wins over Aaron Phung of Union and Aaron Adams of Muskogee.

Brock Smith and Caleb Bundy placed fifteenth in #1 Doubles with a win over Sapulpa, while Conner Coney and Aries Howard took sixteenth in #2 Doubles.
