CPHS Softball: Sandites shut out Owasso 3-0 in district makeup game

The Charles Page High School varsity softball team (20-4, 7-2) picked up a huge district win Wednesday evening at the Sandite Softball Complex, 3-0 against Owasso (19-4, 7-2) in a makeup game. The Sandites out-hit their foes ten to four and Madison Lee was a perfect four-for-four at the plate with three doubles.

Lee hit the first double in the bottom of the first inning and scored on a double from Raegan Rector. She hit another in the third as the Sandites loaded the bases, but all three runners were left stranded after Lily Shaw tossed a pair of strikeouts.

Avery Tanner smacked a double into center field in the fourth and scored on an RBI single from Olivia Alexander. Lee’s third double brought in Morgan Rector for the final run of the game.

Senior pitcher Aliyah Taff (13-4, 30-18) threw four hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts in seven innings for the win, while Shaw tossed seven hits, one walk, and five strikeouts in four innings for the loss. Avery Tallman also saw action with three hits and one walk in two innings.

The Sandites’ win improved them from fourth to third in district standings, while Owasso dropped from first to fourth. Sandite softball will return to action Thursday at 5:30 p.m. with another huge district game against Shawnee (17-2, 5-1), who they previously lost to 5-0 on the road. Owasso will travel to Sapulpa (3-13, 1-8) Monday at 6:00 p.m.
