CPHS Softball: Sandites beat Muldrow 7-0, Union 4-1

The Charles Page High School varsity softball team (16-3) saw their schedule interrupted by weather this week, but that didn’t stop them from picking up a couple of wins Friday afternoon in Broken Arrow. Their district home game against Owasso was postponed Thursday and they were initially supposed to play three games in the Bixby Tournament on Friday, but the rain led to a change of venue and the postponement of their game against Collinsville. They won their third-straight shutout 7-0 against Muldrow (7-5) and won their fourth straight game 4-1 against Union (3-13). The Sandites scored 36 runs over four games before finally allowing their opponents on the board.

Aliyah Taff (10-3, 27-17) earned all three shutout wins, pitching six hits and five strikeouts in six innings against Muldrow. Kelsi Qualls suffered the loss, tossing 13 hits and six strikeouts for the Bulldogs. Raegan Rector paced the Sandites offensively, going 2-of-3 at the plate with a double, two runs, and two RBI.

Rector, Jaden Jordan, and Drew Hawkins hit RBI singles in the first inning and Rector tagged up on a fly out from Avery Tanner. Rector hit an RBI double to score Madison Lee in the second, then came in on a single from Taff to make it 6-0. Nataley Crawford batted in the final run of the game with a triple in the third. Jolee McNally also had a triple in the sixth but was caught stealing home.

Crawford (6-0, 9-2) continued her undefeated season in the circle against Union, throwing three hits and three strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Taff threw one strikeout in an inning of relief. Carissa Knight took the loss for the Redskins with 10 hits, four walks, and four strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

McNally hit a double in the first inning and scored on a single from Crawford for the first run of the game. Maya Sheldon tied it up in the second, reaching on a double before stealing home. Lee and Brooklyn Harper scored runs on singles from McNally and Rector in the third to regain the lead once and for all. Jordan added an RBI single in the fourth for the final run of the game.

Sandite Softball will return to action Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. against Collinsville (10-11).
