CPHS Softball: Sandites shut out Sapulpa 19-0, Hawkins and Lee hit home runs

The Charles Page High School varsity softball team (14-3, 5-2) earned their biggest win since 2014 Thursday evening at the Sandite Softball Complex, 19-0 against their district rivals from Sapulpa (1-6, 0-5). Junior Aliyah Taff (9-3, 26-17) has won back-to-back games in the pitcher’s circle, both by shutout, and she threw seven strikeouts Thursday with no walks and only two hits.

The Sandites amassed 20 hits. Madison Lee, JoLee McNally, Raegan Rector, Taff, and Avery Tanner had three hits apiece, and Lee and Drew Hawkins both hit home runs.

Lee’s solo home run came in the bottom of the first on the first Sandite at-bat of the day. Nataley Crawford, Taff, and Rector hit RBI singles in the second and McNally had a two-run single for the 6-0 lead.

Hawkins hit a double to start the third inning and scored on a ground out from Crawford. Lee and McNally singled and both scored on a double from Rector. Jordan hit an RBI single, Taff hit an RBI triple, and Tanner hit an RBI single to make it 12-0.

Lee smacked an RBI double in the fourth and scored on a ground out from McNally. Rector hit a triple and scored on a double from Jordan, Tanner hit an RBI single, and Hawkins hit a three-run homer for the final runs of the day.

Hailey Dye took the loss for the Chieftains, throwing 20 hits, no strikeouts, and six walks in four innings.

Sandite Softball will take a week off before hosting Owasso (13-1, 4-0) next Thursday. Sapulpa will travel to Jenks (7-4, 4-1) on Tuesday.
