CPHS Softball: Sandites strike out against Jenks, lose 8-4

The Charles Page High School varsity softball team (11-2, 2-1) suffered its first district loss of the season Monday afternoon, 8-4 in a home game against Jenks (6-3, 3-0). The Trojans had the best offensive showing of any Sandite foe so far, batting .455.

The Trojans loaded the bases right out of the gate and Lauren Allen smacked a two-run double for the lead. Madison Lee responded with a triple for the Sandites, then scored on a single from Avery Tanner. Tanner came in on a double from Raegan Rector to tie it up.

Jenks loaded the bases again in the second inning and Kayla Adams, Emma Vickrey, and Kylie Hill all hit RBI singles for the 5-2 advantage. Nataley Crawford hit a two-run double in the sixth to put the Sandites in striking distance, but Jenks doubled down in the seventh with RBI singles from Natalie Rodman and Emma Lang, and Allen stole home. Aliyah Taff hit a double in the bottom of the inning, but was left stranded as the game came to a close.

Emma Lang got the start and the win in the pitcher’s circle, tossing seven hits, nine strikeouts, and five walks in six inning. Daria Sexton threw one hit and two strikeouts in relief. Taff (7-2, 24-16) took the loss with 15 hits, three strikeouts, and three walks in seven innings.

Sandite Softball will return to action Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with a district road game against Muskogee (1-6, 0-5). Jenks will host Owasso (10-1, 3-0) Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
