CPHS Wrestling: Sandites sitting 4th at Regionals, advance 5 to semifinals

The Charles Page High School Wrestling team is sitting in fourth place following the quarterfinal round of the Class 6A East Regional Championship Friday morning in Broken Arrow. The Sandites advanced five wrestlers to the semifinals. 

Freshman standout Mitchell Smith pinned Bixby freshman Cody Kaiser in 1:32 and Deer Creek sophomore Michael Fredrickson in 4:55. He will take on Stillwater sophomore Gabe Fontanez in the 113-pound semifinals. 

Seth Jones took a 6-2 lead against Union freshman Andre Boyd before pinning the Redskin in 38 seconds. He will wrestle Broken Arrow senior Jackson Cockrell in the 126 semis. 

Blake Jones won an 11-0 major decision against Enid sophomore Trinit Zweifel and will face top-seeded Broken Arrow junior Jared Hill in the 138 semis. 

Chris Kirby pinned Northwest Classen senior Levi Wilson in 21 seconds and Deer Creek senior Tim Trigg in 53 seconds at 160 pounds. He will face off with top-seeded Enid sophomore Chance Davis in the semis. 

Josh Fincannon pinned Northwest Classen junior George Allen in 55 seconds and will wrestle Bixby junior Isaac Gibson in the 220 semis. 

Shane Wolf was pinned by Ponca City’s Preston Lee in the first round of 106. He will wrestle Owasso sophomore Zeke Wheeler in consolation. 

Harley Newberry was pinned by top-seeded Broken Arrow senior Bryce Cockrell in the 120 quarterfinals. He will take on Enid freshman Donterriou Covington in consolation. 

Carter Goodman lost a 5-2 decision to Ponca City’s Gabriel Roland at 132. He will take on Owasso senior Killian McNichol in consolation.  

Preston Medlin lost a 6-4 decision to Muskogee’s Bobby Felts at 145. He will take on Ponca City junior Shayden Trant in consolation. 

Ethan White was pinned by Broken Arrow senior William Martin in the first round of 152. He will wrestle Midwest City’s Jamie Watts in consolation. 

Codey Cramer made his varsity debut against top-seeded Broken Arrow senior Bryce Mattioda at 170 and was pinned. He will wrestle Ponca City freshman Joe Leavitt in consolation. 

Brooks Dudley pinned Muskogee’s Ty’Vonte Williams in 2:42 but was then pinned by Ponca City’s Landon Newlin in the 182 quarterfinals. He will wrestle Union junior Shane Fields in consolation. 

Sango Whitehorn was pinned by top-seeded Broken Arrow junior Emmanuel Skillings in the 195 quarterfinals. He will wrestle Enid junior Luis Vega in consolation. 

Santana Naugle won a 3-2 decision against Ponca City junior HB Bowers at heavyweight but was pinned by top-seeded Union senior Micah Walker in the quarterfinals. He will have a bye in the first round of consolation. 

Former Sandites Christian Forbes (Broken Arrow) and Carter Young (Stillwater) both won their quarterfinals matches.
