The Class 6A No. 7 ranked Charles Page High School wrestling team had a rough weekend at the Cushing Tiger Invitational, finishing in 13th place out of 41 teams with only two placers.

The Sandites have had a hard time fielding a full roster this season, and had to call up two freshmen from junior varsity. They voided two weight classes and had four wrestlers withdraw from the tournament before it was over.

Brendon Wiseley (17-6, 69-26) went 5-2 at 106 before forfeiting the placement match and taking sixth place. He recorded three falls and a 10-0 major decision. Seth Jones (17-4, 61-33) and Chris Kirby (13-7, 71-31) went 2-0 at 126 and 160 with two pins each, but both withdrew after day one. Blake Jones (13-6, 39-20) went 1-1 at 138 with one pin, then withdrew.

Josh Fincannon (17-7, 56-41) was the lone Sandite to go the distance, finishing with a 4-2 record for fourth place at 220 with two pins. His only losses were 1-0 to defending Bristow State Champion Luke Fortney, who has won 33-straight matches dating back two seasons, and a pin by Elgin sophomore Kaylon Wolf, who was Junior High Allstate Runner-Up last season.

Shane Wolf (7-4) went 4-2 at 106 pounds and was eliminated one round short of placement. Preston Medlin (8-9, 21-31) went 3-2 at 145 with two pins and a major decision. Sango Whitehorn (6-10, 8-14) was 2-2 at 182. Chase White (5-9, 5-11) and Brooks Dudley (11-10, 21-18) were both 1-2 with one pin each at 152 and 195.

Mitchell Smith went 2-2 with two pins at 113, and Carter Goodman was 2-2 with one pin at 132, both in their varsity debuts. Ethan Norton (2-6, 2-11) went 2-2 at 126, picking up his first ever varsity wins. Robbie Parrish (6-11, 8-26) went 1-2 at heavyweight with one pin. The Sandites voided 120 and 170.

Nationally ranked No. 14 Allen, Texas won the tournament by a wide margin with six individual champions, followed by the defending 5A State Champions from Collinsville with three winners.

Sand Springs will return to action Thursday at 7:00 p.m. with a road dual against No. 12 Union (1-2). The Sandites have won seven consecutive duals against the Redskins and haven’t lost since 2009.
