CPHS Softball: Sandites upset District Champs 2-0 to earn home Regional
/Owasso didn’t have much to prove Monday evening at the Sandite Softball Complex, but for Charles Page High School it was a crucial game with major post-season implications. The Lady Sandites rose to the occasion with a 2-0 payback win against the Rams, who had beaten Sand Springs 8-3 last month.

Owasso (21-11, 10-2) already had the District Title on lock, but the win positioned the Sandites (18-10, 9-3) at second in the standings, edging out Jenks (18-9, 9-3) on run differential for the right to host a Regional Tournament. Sand Springs has hosted and won four consecutive Regional Championships. Owasso has hosted five straight Regional playoffs, and has won the past three.
Sand Springs took the lead right out of the gate as Madison Lee hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the first before scoring on a wild pitch. They had plenty of chances to score after that, but didn’t knock in the second run till the fifth.
The Sandites stranded two in the third and one in the fourth before Makenna Skaggs hit a double and scored on an RBI single from Raegan Rector. They loaded the bases later that inning but stranded the side after two forces at home and a ground ball to first. They stranded another runner in the sixth.
The visitors stranded two in the first, three in the third and one in the fourth with only four total hits. It was their lowest hitting performance of the season in seven-inning games.
Aliyah Taff (10-5, 14-11) got the win on the mound with two strikeouts and no walks. Lily Shaw got the start and the loss, giving up five hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Avery Tallman pitched four hits, no walks, and one strikeout in two innings of relief.
