CPHS Baseball: Sandites pummel Tulsa NOAH 17-7 in scrimmage

The Charles Page High School baseball team won its third-straight preseason scrimmage Thursday afternoon, 17-7 over the Northeast Oklahoma Association of Homeschools (NOAH) team. The Sandites were outhit ten to nine, but benefited from twelve walks and a handful of errors.

Three Sandite pitchers saw action. Seth Villines pitched just under four innings, throwing six strikeouts, two walks, and three hits. Preston Berg threw two hits and two strikeouts in one inning, and Bryce Peterman threw two strikeouts and five hits in two innings.

Ethan Sartin led the team at the plate with three hits and two runs batted in, while Malachi Burks and Keaton Campbell eached scored three runs apiece. Cal Watkins batted in three and scored twice, and Burks had three RBIs.

The visitors were first on the board with a leadoff homer, but the Sandites took the lead once and for all in the bottom of the second. Michael Miller singled on loaded bases to score Kiefer Massey, then Kaegan Murray and Peterman scored on an error. Miller, Burks, and Jacob Snodgrass scored on another error, then Sartin singled in Cal Watkins for the 7-1 lead.

The Sandites loaded the bases again in the third thanks to an error and two walks. Murray walked in, then Watkins hit a double to score Miller and Campbell and in turn scored on a double from Sartin to make it 12-1.

NOAH scored another homer in the fourth and Villines walked in one on loaded bases, but Burks earned the runs back with a double to score Campbell and Ryan Seabolt.

NOAH scored another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth, but the Sandites had the final say of the night. Snodgrass doubled in Campbell and stole home, then Burks scored on a passed ball.

The Sandites will return to action Friday at 5:00 p.m. with a road game against Bartlesville. The season will officially begin Friday, March 1st against Coweta.
