Sandite of the Week: Tyler Ash leads Sandites on the plate and the mound

Tyler Ash was selected as our Sandite of the Week after helping the Sand Springs Baseball team extend their winning streak to fourteen at the Spartan/Tiger Turf War this past weekend.

The Sandites had a busy week, playing two district games and going 4-0 at the Bixby-Broken Arrow tournament for an 18-6, 4-2 record. 

Ash was five-of-nineteen at the plate over the six games, hitting two singles, one double, and two home runs. His homers came against Jenks and Bixby. Ash led his team offensively with six runs and six RBI. He also stole three bases over the course of the tournament.

In the Tournament finals the Sandites topped Booker T. Washington 11-3 and Ash went the distance on the mound, pitching three hits, five strikeouts, and no walks in five innings with zero earned runs. 

Overall this season Ash holds a .284 batting average, .432 slugging average, .418 on-base percentage, 4.27 earned run average, and a 2-1 record on the mound.

Sand Springs will take on Jenks (12-12, 4-2) in district action Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the Sandite Baseball Complex. The Sandites haven't lost a game since March 19th at the Best of the West Tournament in Peoria, Arizona.
