CPHS Baseball: Sandites win fifth straight at Tiger/Zebra Classic
/The Charles Page High School varsity baseball team (9-6) won their first three games at the Tiger/Zebra Classic this weekend, topping Booker T. Washington Claremore, and Coweta High Schools to push their win streak to five games.

Claremore, March 30, 2018 - Cal Watkins scored the first run of the tournament for the Sandites, coming in on a single from Braden Askew in the bottom of the first inning against Booker T. Washington (6-7). The Hornets tied it up with a single from Gentry Dalton to score Brysen Williams, but Kameron Adcock scored on a wild pitch to regain the lead.
The Sandites went to work in the third inning with two singles, two walks, and two runs. Tyler Ash scored on a passed ball, and Watkins scored on an error for the 4-1 advantage. The Hornets battled right back, however, with two hits in the fourth and benefited from two errors to make it 4-3.
Watkins came up big in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Adcock and Malachi Burks on a fly ball to double the Hornets, but they had their biggest inning in retaliation to tie it at 6-6 with three runs and a walk.
Kyler Copeland singled in Askew and Riley Rutledge, then Braden Millian scored on an error for a final score of 9-6 in the bottom of the fifth.
John Miller (2-0) started at pitcher and served up four hits, two strikeouts, and two walks over four innings. Ty Steelman (2-0, 2-1) pitched four hits and a walk in two innings, and Seth Villines pitched the seventh for a save. He gave up two singles and a walk to load the bases, but struck out one. Rutledge and Adcock caught fly balls to seal the deal.

Claremore, March 30, 2018 - Tyler Ashe (1-1) picked up his first career win with a six-inning two-hit performance against Claremore (10-6). He walked five and struck out five before being relieved by Riley Rutledge.
Sand Springs jumped out to an early lead with a single from Rutledge to score Watkins in the top of the first. Askew scored on an error, and the home team never tied nor led.
Cooper Dotson scored on a double from Jackson Martin in the bottom of the first. Watkins scored on a sacrifice by Cale Savage in the top of the third, then Garrett Wood scored on a double from Brandon Ulhorn in the bottom of the inning.
Burks, Ash, and Wakins hit singles in the fourth and Burks and Villines added runs for a 5-2 lead. Ash and Askew scored on singles from Askew and Savage in the top of the seventh, then Rutledge struck out one as the game came to a close.

Pryor, March 31, 2018 - The Sandites won a 3-0 shutout against Coweta (6-9), handily outhitting the Tigers eight to three, while Brock Youngblood (1-3, 7-11) pitched his first win of the season with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Watkins singled and scored on a hit from Askew, then Savage doubled in Askew for a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Miller hit a single in the second and scored on a hit from Watkins.
