Sandite of the Week: Aden Baughman takes gold at Broken Arrow Track Classic

Charles Page High School sophomore Aden Baughman was selected as Sandite of the Week for March 19-25 for his outstanding performance at this past weekend's Broken Arrow Track Classic.

Baughman competed in three events and placed top-three in each of them. He won his first event ever with a 2:00.66 performance in the 800 meter run, finishing four seconds ahead of the runner-up and eleven seconds ahead of his previous personal-best. He also placed third in the 1600 meter run, just three seconds behind his PR, seven seconds behind the runner-up, and fifteen seconds behind the champion. 

He also competed on the 3200 meter relay and had the fastest leg of his team at 2:03, helping the Sandites record their best time since winning the Regional Championship in 2013. They finished in 8:34.28 overall for second place, nine seconds behind Union and nine seconds ahead of Glenpool. 

The Sandites will return to action this Friday at Stillwater at 4:00 p.m.
