Charles Page High School senior Colt Savage was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Large East All-State team Thursday. The 6'5" eldest son of Head Coach Eric Savage will continue his basketball career at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Savage led the Sandites in many statistical categories this past season, including: scoring, free throw percentage, defensive rebounding, and steals. He led the team in scoring on twenty occasions as the Sandites made the State Tournament for the first time since 1963.

Savage was second on the team in scoring as a freshman with 10.3 points per game. He led in seven different games and posted a season-high eighteen points against the Wichita Defenders.

As a sophomore Savage averaged 14.5 points per game, led on eight occasions, and scored a season-high 25 points against Nathan Hale. He was second in scoring overall.

Savage was not only the leading scorer for the Sandites as a junior, but he was also the leading scorer for the entire Frontier Valley Conference with 22.5 points per game. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals, and led the team in nineteen games. He scored a season-high 34 points against Bixby.

Savage led his team in twenty games as a senior and averaged 20.6 points per game with a career-high 35 points against Redemption Life World Academy. He averaged 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.6 steals, while shooting 50.2% on field goals, 25.6% on three-pointers, 62.6% on two-pointers, and 77.3% on free throws.

The All-State game will be played July 26th at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center, and will pit the top players from each side of the state. The game will reunite Savage with former teammate Brooks Haddock, who transferred from Sand Springs to Muskogee after his sophomore year.

Haddock, who is signed with Oklahoma Wesleyan University, led the Sandites in scoring as a freshman and a sophomore. He averaged 12.6 points per game as a freshman, sixteen as a sophomore, 20.3 as a junior, and seventeen as a senior.

Sandite of the Week: Morgan Poletek scores hat trick against Locust Grove

Charles Page High School sophomore Morgan Poletek was selected as our Sandite of the Week for her work on the soccer pitch, leading her team with four goals in four matches, including a hat trick in a 6-0 shutout of Locust Grove. She also scored the lone goal in a 2-1 overtime shootout against Westville. She is the second-highest scoring player on her team this season.

CPHS Soccer: Lady Sandites go undefeated at Stilwell Tournament

Senior keeper Abigail Banks saved a pair of games Saturday, winning them in overtime shootouts.

Collinsville - The Charles Page High School girls' soccer team (6-2, 0-1) went undefeated at the Stilwell Bank of Commerce Tournament this past weekend, winning three matches.

The tournament was initially called off due to unplayable field conditions in Stilwell, but Collinsville graciously allowed the use of their facilities, helping the Lady Sandites to their first three-game win streak since 2016.

"We had a great two days," said second-year Head Coach Matthew Miller. "This year the girls have come together with unity, passion, and the desire to dig deep to find their inner Sandite in order to come up top. This tournament being an example of that."

The girls kicked off the tournament with a bang, winning a 6-0 shutout of Locust Grove (1-7) on Friday. Julia Wolf, Ali Esparza, and Julia Lahmeyer scored a goal apiece, while Morgan Poletek recorded her first hat trick of the season. Wolf notched four assists.

On Saturday the Lady Sandites went to overtime shootouts in both matches, winning both 2-1.

Wolf scored the lone goal against Stilwell (2-5) and Poletek scored the lone goal against Westville (5-2). Senior goalkeeper Abigail Banks protected the goal from penalty kicks in both matches.

"Abigail Banks came up strong over the tournament," said Miller. "I would easily say PKs are her forte. If not for her, I'd say the results could have been different the last two games." He also gave credit to sophomore defenders Demi Deshazo and Libby Colson as crucial in limiting the opposing teams' scoring potential.

The Lady Sandites will return to district action Tuesday when they host Edmond Santa Fe (2-4, 1-0) 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The Sandite boys (4-4, 0-1) will play the Wolves (5-3, 1-0) at 8:00 p.m.
