Bayleigh Cheney hit a pair of threes to make it 16-3, then the visitors went on a 13-point run before Kate Gronigan made a layup to end the stanza.
The Sandites got in early foul trouble, with Jackson and Layne Kirkendoll picking up three apiece in the first quarter. They switched to a less aggressive zone defense in the second half, giving the Bruins more shooting opportunities and snagging less takeaways. The final three quarters amounted to a much closer score of 38-26, still in the visitors’ favor, however. The Bruins never cut it closer than a 26-point deficit after the first quarter, and the Sandites led by as much as 38 after an 11-point run in the fourth quarter.
