CPHS Football Preview: Sandites travel to Putnam City West Friday
/The Class 6A-II No. 7 ranked Charles Page High School football team (5-4, 3-3) will wrap up the regular season Friday night in Oklahoma City with a district game at No. 16 Putnam City West (0-7, 0-4).
The Sandites will be making their first-ever appearance at Patriot Stadium, which first opened in 2019. Up until last year, the Patriots have shared a stadium with Putnam City and Putnam City North. The new $8 million, 3,500-capacity facility is located at 8500 Northwest 23rd Street.
The two teams have only met twice, and Sand Springs owns the series 2-0. They won the first-ever meeting 29-24 in 2016 at home, then won 28-14 on the road in 2017.
Sand Springs is coming off a 21-14 win over Bartlesville, and is one victory away from its first winning season since 2016. They already have as many wins this year as they did in the past two years combined. Putnam West has suffered 23-straight losses and has only won two games in four seasons.
Bobby Klinck is in his first season with the Sandites, and owns a 18-16 record as a head coach. Craig Maynard is in his second year with the Patriots and is 5-29 in his career.
Sand Springs is currently ranked fourth in the district, and Putnam West is eighth. The Sandites have the 9th ranked offense and 11th ranked defense in Class 6A-II. The Patriots have the No. 16 offense and No. 14 defense.

Junior quarterback Ty Pennington is 100 of 202 passing this season for 1650 yards and ten touchdowns with only three interceptions. In his career he is 215-433-3085-6 with 23 scores. He has emerged as a running threat this season with 139 carries for 494 yards and 11 touchdowns, including a career-best 147-yard performance against Bartlesville.
Keaton Campbell is 41-546 receiving with six touchdowns this season, and is 86-1239 in his career with nine scores. He also averages 7.1 yards per punt return and 13 yards per kick return.
Jamon Sisco is 22-459 receiving with three touchdowns this season, and is 37-697 with seven scores in his career. He is also 33-106 rushing this season and averages 22.7 yards per kick return with one touchdown. He has also blocked three kicks.
Jacob Blevins is 19-456 receiving with one score. Ryan Shoemaker is 13-158 receiving. Blake Jones is 81-377 rushing for five touchdowns.
Zach Heinen is 19-of-19 on PATs and 2-of-3 on field goals with a long of 36. He also averages 33.2 yards per punt. Greg Reed is averaging 48 yards per kickoff.
Sango Whitehorn has 76 tackles, 18 for loss, six sacks, and two blocked kicks. Landon Hendricks has 74 tackles, 17.5 for loss, five sacks, five fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles.
Drake Fain has 67 tackles, 6.5 for loss, one sack, an interception, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble. Brooks Dudley has 67 tackles, 19 for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble.
Brycen Peterman has five fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. Micah Calico, Bryson Chase, Daren Hawkins, Dominic Ornelas, and Dylan Sallas have all made takeaways.
