CPHS Baseball: Tatum Watie signs with Northeastern State University
/Charles Page High School senior pitcher Tatum Watie signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to play baseball at Northeastern State University.
Watie didn’t see any varsity action last season, but went 4-1 on the JV mound with a 1.96 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts in 18 innings. He tallied 3 runs and 2 stolen bases while running courtesy.
NSU is an NCAA Division 2 school located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The Riverhawks play in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association. They went 12-37 overall last season and were 9-24 in conference action. They are only a year-removed from a winning 28-24 campaign in 2018. The Riverhawks are led by fifth-year head coach Jake Hendrick, who owns an 89-109 overall record and 63-79 conference record over his first four years.
The Sandite baseball team will enter its first season under Interim Head Coach Matt Brown this spring. The year will start March 2nd at 6:00 p.m. with a district home game against Edmond Memorial. They went 22-11 last season and were 8-4 in district action.
