CPHS Softball: Oologah beats Sand Springs 2-0 with 9th inning walk-off home run

Oologah, OK - The Charles Page High School fast pitch softball team (19-11) played their longest game of the season Thursday evening, falling 2-0 to Oologah-Talala (29-2) in a nine-inning tune-up game to wrap up the regular season.

Aliyah Taff (11-6, 15-12) pitched one of her best games of the season Thursday evening, but Kenzie Chacon did her one better.

The junior Sandite only tossed four hits with one strikeout and no walks in the nine-inning game, and didn’t give up her first hit till the sixth inning. She only tossed two hits in the first seven innings.

Chacon, also a junior, only threw two hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. She also hit the a walk off home run over the right field fence to secure the win.

Both teams committed an error in the second, each stranding their runner. Taff recorded the first hit of the game in the top of the fourth, then Raigan McKee singled for the Mustangs in the sixth. Sabrina Usher hit a lead-off double in the seventh but was stranded on third.

Reagan Rector was stranded on a walk in the eighth and Morgan Bement was left dry after a single. Finally, in the bottom of the ninth, Raegan Maple hit a single with two outs on the board and came in on Chacon’s homer for Oologah’s ninth-straight win.

The Mustangs have one last regular season game left, Tuesday at Skiatook (17-10). Sand Springs and Oologah will both host Regional Tournaments. Oologah will host Locust Grove (11-11), Fort Gibson (17-8), and Bristow (22-5) on Thursday. Sand Springs will host Enid (5-26), Sapulpa (8-17), and Choctaw (14-12), on Thursday, beginning at noon.
