Jack Karstetter places sixth at Greco-Roman National Championship

Following an eighth place performance at last week's Freestyle tournament, Charles Page High School Class of 2017 graduate Jack Karstetter (11-10) improved to a sixth place finish in Greco-Roman competition at the USA Wrestling Junior National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.
Karstetter concluded his high school career with a 105-16 record and OSSAA 6A State Championship title, helping the Sandites to their first team Championship since 1971. Since then he placed sixth at the U.S. Open Championship and competed on the USAOK junior dual team.
The Sandite got off to a great start at Fargo, winning his first four-straight matches. He teched Washington State Champion Randy McDonald 12-0 in 5:29, Connor Kievman 11-1 in 5:12, and Carter Noehre 13-2 in 3:15. He defeated Jarod Maes 12-8, but finally met his match in a 6-1 decision to Oregon State Champion Jason Shaner. In the consolation bracket Karstetter was defeated 13-2 by former USAW National Champ Job Greenwood and 6-2 by Michael Gunther of Illinois.
Overall, Oklahoma placed tenth out of 44 participating states.
