CPHS Golf: Ashton Persons and Madison Kinard place 19th and 68th at State Tournament

Two members of the Charles Page High School girls golf team competed at the 6A State Championship in Ponca City this past week. Ashton Persons placed 19th out of 74, while Madison Kinard tied for 68th.

It was the first State Tournament for both girls.

 The tournament consisted of two rounds at Ponca City Country Club. Persons came into round one on fire, shooting a season-low score of 79 to tie for sixth place. Kinard was tied for 59th after round one with a score of 102. 

In the second half of the tournament Persons and Kinard shot 99 and 110, respectively, to finish with totals of 178 and 212.

Norman North's Kaitlin Milligan won the tournament with a total of 147, nine strokes better than the runner-up. Her first-round score of 73 was the best of any competitor for either day.

Owasso claimed the team title with a 21-stroke margin over Edmond North.
