CPHS Wrestling: Sandites rout No. 10 Bixby 55-18 with seven pins

The Class 6A No. 7 ranked Charles Page High School wrestling team (3-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dominant 55-18 win over No. 10 Bixby (1-1) Tuesday evening at Clyde Boyd Middle School. The Sandites won eleven of the fourteen matches with seven pins.

Shane Wolf (3-2), Harley Newberry (4-6), and Brendon Wiseley (11-4, 63-24) kicked off the dual with three-straight pins, then Seth Jones (14-4, 58-33) won a 5-4 decision over Garrett Washington for a 21-0 lead before the Spartans got on the board.

Defending State Champion Zach Blankenship pinned Ethan Norton (0-3, 0-8), but Blake Jones (12-4, 38-18) kicked off another Sandite run with a 6-5 decision against Jakeb Snyder, then Preston Medlin (4-7, 17-29) won a 3-0 decision against Karsten Rice. Chase White (4-6, 4-8) and Chris Kirby (11-5, 69-29) pinned their opponents to clinch the dual at 39-6.

Owen Dewoody and Jersey Robb pinned Dakota Taylor (0-7, 0-14) and Sango Whitehorn (4-7, 6-11) to make it slightly less of a rout, but the home team finished on a 3-0 run with two pins. Brooks Dudley (9-8, 19-16) got a first-period fall, Robbie Parrish (5-8, 7-23) recorded his first career major decision at 12-2, and Josh Fincannon (12-5, 51-39) pinned his foe in only 21 seconds to wrap up the event.

Sand Springs will return to action with a big home dual against 5A No. 2 Collinsville (3-0) Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Ed Dubie Field House. Bixby will look to get back to a winning record when they host No. 11 Owasso (1-5) Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
