CPHS Softball: Sabrina Usher and coaching staff honored by Board of Education
/Senior catcher Sabrina Usher and her Sandite Softball coaching staff were recognized at the Sand Springs Board of Education December meeting Monday evening. Usher was presented with a Sandite Spirit Award, Head Coach Shelli Brown received a commemorative pin, and assistant coaches Brooke Smart, Jennifer Owen, Patty Keho, and Brad Ehmke received Pacesetter Awards.
The Sandite Fast Pitch Softball Team went 23-13 this fall for their fifth-straight Regional Championship, a runner-up performance in District play, and a State Tournament appearance. They also won the Choctaw/Carl Albert Tournament.
“They put in so much time,” Coach Brown said of her staff. “They connect with the kids. I’ve been fortunate enough to have this staff in place for a while, and that doesn’t happen very often…I wouldn’t be able to do my job if it wasn’t for them.”
Usher was named to the Oklahoma Fast Pitch Coaches’ Association All-State team and is signed to play NCAA Division 2 softball at Rogers State University. In her senior season she was .490 at the plate with a 1.07 slugging average and .586 on-base percentage. She scored 125 career runs and 144 RBI, with 173 hits, 25 home runs and a grand slam.
