January 10, 1992 - Sand Springs vs. Owasso

Sand Springs improved to 4-4 on the season with 65-46 win over Owasso Friday night behind a 31-point effort from Carlos Wise.

“Carlos was due to break out of it and Owasso paid the price tonight,” head coach Wes Brown told the Sand Springs Leader after the game.

“I was also really pleased with the play we received from Anthony and Neil. They really got after it for us tonight.”

Anthony Pedone put up 10 points and six rebounds, and Neil Ferguson added 13 points and seven rebounds in the game.

The Sandites were without 6’10” center Russell McCaskey, who was fighting an illness.

“We knew with Russell out of there that we would need a total team effort on the boards and that’s what we got,” said Brown.

Sand Springs only led 30-25 at halftime, but Wise scored 10 in the third quarter to enter the fourth 47-36. Wise added nine more in the fourth and Ferguson scored six to put the game away.

Max Maxville scored seven, and Keary King and Jeff McLaurin scored two each to round of the team scoring.

January 24, 1992 - Sand Springs vs. Jenks

The Jenks Trojans jumped out to an early 19-8 lead in the first quarter of their home tournament semifinals Friday night and never looked back in a 61-52 win over the Sandites.

Sand Springs got as close at 55-52 with 1:46 left in the game, but Jenks hit four free throws in the final seconds to hold onto the win.
