The Charles  Page High School baseball team (15-6) has been on a roll lately, and Seth Villines (1-0) kept them that way by pitching a no-hitter in his first time going the distance on the mound.

Cal Watkins scored on an error in the first inning, then three-straight singles from Braden Askew, Malachi Burks, and Braden Millican scored Riley Rutledge, Askew, and Burks for a 4-0 lead.

Rutledge singled in Tyler Ash in the second inning, then scored on an error in the top of the fifth. Askew singled in Cale Savage, Millican scored Askew and Burks, and Brock Youngblood scored Millican for the double-digit lead.

CPHS Baseball: Lucas Adcock Grand Slam wins Sandites 10th straight

Sand Springs Baseball is looking hot this season, riding a ten-game win streak under first-year Head Coach James Garrison.

Lucas Adcock put the exclamation mark on the double-digit streak with a grand slam for a 4-3 district victory in Ponca City (4-18, 1-7). The Charles Page High School varsity squad improved to 14-6 overall and 4-2 in district action.

The hit came in the first inning and the Sandites rode that lead to the end, fending off a seventh-inning rally attempt by the Wildcats. Cal Watkins and Riley Rutledge hit singles and Cale Savage reached on an error. With two balls, two strikes, and two outs on the board, Adcock went swinging with a trio of foul balls before finally hitting pay dirt over the left field fence.

Eli Wohl singled in Hunter Freeman in the bottom of the third, and the Wildcats threatened with loaded bases before Casey Anderson sent a ground ball to Conner Dennis, who found Kyler Copeland for the out at home to save the inning.

Ponca loaded the bases again in the bottom of the seventh and nearly pulled off the comeback. Tanner Denton and Po Seals singled in runs for a 4-3 deficit, but Ty Steelman struck out Aaron Hosack to seal the victory.

Dennis (3-0) got the start and the win on the mound and pitched seven hits, four walks, and two strikeouts before being relieved by Steelman (2-0) at the end of the seventh. Steelman gave up one hit before recording a save with the game-winning strikeout.

The Sandites will return to action Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the first round of the Spartan/Tiger Turf War when they take on Muskogee (3-15) at Bixby High School.

CPHS Baseball: Sandites win 8th straight, shut out Hilldale 12-0

The Charles Page High School varsity baseball team (12-6, 2-2) won their eighth-straight game Friday afternoon, overcoming cold, wind, rain, and Hornets for a 12-0 run-rule shutout of Hilldale High School (5-10).

Brock Youngblood (2-3, 8-11) pitched six strikeouts against only two hits and one walk in four innings on the mound.

The Sandites got on the board right away as Tyler Ash scored on a wild pitch and Riley Rutledge scored on an error in the first inning. Kameron Adcock scored on a balk and Ty Steelman stole home in the second inning and Cale Savage brought in Rutledge with a double in the third.

It looked like the Hornets would finally get on the board in the top of the fourth, but after an error and a pair of singles, Youngblood stranded loaded bases with a pair of strikeouts and the Sandites continued the melee.

Steelman's rabid base running continued in the fourth inning. After hitting a single he stole second, made third on a wild pitch, and scored on an error. Ash reached on an error, Watkins singled, and Malachi Burks walked to load the bases. Ash walked in, Watkins scored on an error, John Miller singled in Burks, Rutledge walked in, then Ash doubled to score Savage and Miller for the final runs of the game.
