CPHS Volleyball Rewind: Sandites have successful first season under Derek Jackson

Derek Jackson is the third head coach in as many seasons for the Charles Page High School volleyball team. He graduated Kellyville High School in 2010, Northern Oklahoma College at Tonkawa in 2012, and Oklahoma State University in 2016. He coached two seasons at Clinton High School for a 35-26 record before taking over the Sandite program. He holds a 53-40 career record after taking the Sandites to their first winning season (18-14) since 2016.

Assistant Coaches Alicia Mong and Haley Pfarr helped turn around the Sandite program after two losing seasons.

Senior OH/MB Devree Youngblood led the team in two categories with 260 kills and 326 digs in addition to 12 assists, 30 blocks, and 38 aces in 96 sets. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Mustang Invitational. Youngblood will continue her volleyball career at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Senior S/RS Madison Burris scored 131 kills, 303 assists, 23 blocks, 200 digs, and 41 aces in 96 sets.

Senior OH/OPP Cloe Campfield scored 204 kills, 5 assists, 12 blocks, 212 digs, and 31 aces in 96 sets. She plans on attending Oklahoma State University after graduating.

Senior setter Raylynn Mong recorded 19 kills, a team-high 376 assists, 2 blocks, 189 digs, and a team-high 45 aces in 94 sets. She will continue her volleyball career at Ottawa University.

Senior MB/OH Vanessa Wyrick scored 98 kills, 5 assists, 40 blocks, 42 digs, and 27 aces in 84 sets.

Senior OPP/OH McKenzie Harris scored 67 kills, 5 assists, 12 blocks, and 41 digs in 77 sets. She plans to attend the University of Arkansas after graduating.

Senior DS Gillian Wicker recorded 1 kill, 85 digs, and 5 aces in 55 sets. She will attend Oklahoma State University after graduation.

Junior Libero Madison Blaylock recorded 7 kills, 65 assists, 321 digs, and 41 aces in 95 sets.

Junior MH Sophie Singleton scored 7 kills, 5 blocks, and 1 dig in 15 sets.

Junior DS Jentry Hughes recorded 1 assist in 5 sets.

Sophomore MB/OPP Jacelyn Smith put up 59 kills, 3 assists, 34 blocks, 31 digs, and 3 aces in 92 sets.

Sophomore Libero Charlize Fahland notched 4 digs and 1 ace in 9 sets.

Freshman OH/MB Payton Robbins recorded 14 kills, 4 blocks, 17 digs, and 2 aces in 25 sets.

Sand Springs won the inaugural 2019 Sandite Invitational 6-0 (12-1) with wins over McLain, Will Rogers, Tecumseh, Bishop Kelley JV, and Booker T. Washington.

2019-2020 Sandite Volleyball went 5-4 in Frontier Valley Conference action for the second-straight year, won their home tournament, and placed second at the Mustang Invitational. They went 11-2 on their home court, starting the season 10-0 at the Ed Dubie Field House. Their longest win streak of the season was a whopping eight matches.
