Youth Wrestling: Seven Sandites snag titles at Coweta Tournament

Seven Sandites brought home first-place medals from the Coweta Oklahoma USA Wrestling Tournament this past weekend.

Division 5

Hayden Ostrowski placed second at 155 pounds, falling to Mason Wood, but majoring Colton Ingram 12-3.

Division 4

Robert Burke won the 92-pound bracket easily with a 16-1 technical fall against Mia Adams and pins of Wiley Welch and Skyler Wood in 0:19 and 1:08, respectively. Carter Wood came in runner-up, pinning Welch in 2:31 and Adams in 3:45, and majoring Skyler Wood 11-2. Skyler Wood placed third, pinning Welch in 1:28 and Adams in 2:16.

Jace Simms won the 76-pound division with a pin of Gavin Pettit in 2:51.

Matthew Moore came in runner-up at 73 pounds, defeating teammate Colt Cothran 8-3, but falling 4-2 to Hunter Knox. Ayreson Reiss placed third with a 1:36 pin of Sage Thorn, a 46-second pin of Christopher Hodges, and a 7-5 decision over Cothran. Cothran placed fourth, majoring Thorn 15-4 and defeating Hodges 11-6.

Division 3

Kasen McAffrey won the 76-pound bracket with three first-period falls. He pinned Jack Kinkaid in 0:34, Brice Lozinsky in 1:54, and Logan Gray in 0:51.

Carter Wood won the 90-pound bracket by pinning Malakai Agnew in 1:48 and Austin Freisberg in 2:52, and defeated Riley Hicks 6-4.

Skyler Wood came in runner-up at 80 pounds. He fell 6-0 to Blake Parmley in the opening round but pinned Ethan Oglesbee in 4:07 and Jaxon Rice in 1:02 and topped John Max Carter Harland 5-3 in sudden-victory overtime.

Division 2

Samuel Moore placed second at 61 pounds, pinning Bradley Vargas in 1:08 and majoring Bryson Hodges 13-0. He was defeated 16-0 by Maddox Moore in the finals.

Beginner 4

Aiden Wilkerson came in runner-up at 120 pounds. He pinned Redus Bowman in 0:58, Halle Sampson in 0:37, and Kylar Rogers in 0:52, but fell to Dillon Blundell.

Beginner 2

Aiden Rhine won the 90-pound bracket, pinning Crew Kaser in 0:36 and Ty Holly in 0:45.

Aaerick Collins placed third at 67 pounds, pinning Jaxson Paschall in 0:29, Isaac Oelke in 1:28, and Owen Hughes in 2:49. He fell 17-2 to Ponca City’s Westin Day.

Beginner 1

Wes Wilson won the 43-pound bracket with three falls, taking down Liam Keene in 1:00, James Simmons in 2:32, and Kellan Hayes in 2:28.

Ryder Black won the 49-pound bracket, defeating Reid Alexander 8-5, Kaseton Dean 18-2, and pinning Max Bozone in 1:19.

Girls 9&Under

Isabella Perea came in runner-up at 60 pounds, pinning Abby Chambers in 0:26, but fell to McAlester’s Jaylianna James.
