The Charles Page High School Girls' Soccer team (1-5) competed at the Stillwater Cup this past weekend and took fourth place, winning one match and losing two.

In the first round the Lady Sandites handily defeated the Enid Pacers (), but fell to Coweta and Stillwater in the next two rounds. It was a rough tournament with winds reaching 20 mph both days and temperatures as low as 45 degrees Fahrenheit on day two.

In the third-place match Saturday night, the host team took a quick 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Bella Blake and Alyssa Henderson and a penalty kick from Henderson.

Kyndal Zicker got the Lady Sandites on the scoreboard shortly before halftime with an assist from Megan Deshazo.

The Lady Sandites battled hard in the second half, out-shooting the Pioneers eleven to four, but the Stillwater goalie pulled in all five on-goal attempts to keep the Sandites scoreless. A pair of Sandite starters went down with injuries and Head Coach Matt Miller was red-carded after protesting a perceived no-call, leaving the team flustered and short on man-power.

The backfield was a strong point for the team, giving up only four shots in the second half, but with an out-manned front line they were unable to catch up. Junior goalie Abigail Banks hauled in five saves in the game.

The Lady Sandites will return to action Tuesday night with a district road game against Booker T. Washington at 6:00 p.m.
