Lady Sandite Golf places 12th at Union Invitational

The Charles Page High School girls' golf team recently traveled to LaFortune Golf Course for the Union High School Invitational and took 12th place out of 14 teams. They topped two conference foes, including their Highway 97 rivals from Sapulpa.

Ashton Persons and Madison Kinard were within a stroke of each other, shooting 96 and 97, respectively. Persons tied for 37th place in a field of 73, while Kinard tied for 39th.

Joelie Simmons tied for 59th with a score of 109, and Emily Charles tied for 63rd with a score of 113. 

Owasso claimed the tournament title with a team score of 314, while Booker T. Washington's Alesia Gonzalez had the low card at 73.

Ashton Persons takes 14th place at Del City Invitational

Two Lady Sandites recently traveled to the Del City Invitational at Trosper Golf Course in Oklahoma City and both had performances ranking among their best of the season. Ashton Persons took fourteenth place in a field of 78 competitors with 84 strokes, twelve behind the champion from Deer Creek. Emily Charles tied for 52nd place with a score of 101.

CPHS Golf: Sandites place 16th in off week at Bailey Ranch

The Charles Page High School Boys' Golf team had a rough time at last week's Owasso Invitational, placing sixteenth out of sixteen teams and 200 strokes behind the tournament champions from Edmond North.

Playing their first 36-hole tournament of the season at Bailey Ranch Golf Course, the Sandites shot 393 on day one and 405 on day two. They were also without Mikey Carper.

Carson Griggs tied for 48th out of 84 competitors with an overall score of 172. He shot 81 in the first round and was tied for 24th, but shot 91 in the second round and ended up 33 strokes behind Austin Eckroat, the Champion from Edmond North.

Kyler Gaylor shot a 91 and a 94 to finish tied for 67th place with 185 total strokes. Kasey Bales shot a 108 and a 107 to finish tied for 77th place with 215 total strokes. JT Bristow shot a pair of 113s to finish 82nd with a total score of 226.

The Sandites handily rebounded from their off week, however, finishing 12th of 19 Tuesday at LaFortune. Griggs placed eighth, Gaylor placed 23rd, Carper placed 76th, Bristow placed 77th, and Bales placed 85th out of 100 competitors.

The Sandites will return to action Monday in Broken Arrow for the Frontier Valley Conference Championship at Indian Springs Country Club.

Carson Griggs places 8th at Bishop Kelley Invitational, Sandites take 12th overall

The Charles Page High School Boys' Golf team competed in the Bishop Kelley Invitational Tuesday morning at Lafortune and took twelfth of nineteen teams with one top-ten finisher.

Carson Griggs led the Sandites with a score of 75, just six strokes behind the tournament champion, tying for eighth place. Not far behind him was Kyler Gaylor with 80 strokes to tie for 23rd place.

Mikey Carper took 76th place in 99 strokes, J.T. Bristow tied for 77th place in 100 strokes, and Kasey Bales tied for 85th place in 108 strokes. There were 100 total individuals in the tournament and only the top three finished below the 72-stroke par.

Holland Hall took first place in the tournament in 299 strokes, followed by Owasso with 303 and Sapulpa with 309. The Sandites combined for 354.

The Sandites will return to action Monday in Broken Arrow for the Frontier Valley Conference Championship at Indian Springs Country Club.
