The annual Chillin and Grillin Festival in Sand Springs has seen many iterations over the years.

Chillin and Grillin began in 2011 and was originally held on the second weekend in October, hosted by the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce.

In 2016 it was moved to the second weekend in April. River City Park hosted the event through 2016 but was closed in 2017 for a major park renovation. The Chamber moved the event to Pogue Airport and partnered with the Harper's Hut Classic Car Show that year. 

In 2018 the event returned to the newly renovated and renamed Case Community Park (formerly River City) and expanded to three days for the first time. The Harper's Hut Car Show returned and carnival rides were added for the first time. The event was formerly sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, but was strictly Peoples' Choice in 2018.

2019 saw a move to downtown Sand Springs and the return of the carnival, however, the Harper’s Hut Classic Car Show did not return. The eighth annual festival was held May 30th through June 1st, 2019 in the downtown Triangle District.

The three-day event featured free admission to music, games, and craft booths. In addition to the BBQ competition, there were also food trucks carnival rides, and a beer garden.

The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Chamber decided not to host it in 2021 either.

In 2022 the festival was resurrected on September 17th by Vets That Matter in downtown.
