The Sand Springs fenceline includes a nearly twelve-mile stretch of the Arkansas River, stretching from the Keystone Dam in the west to Tulsa in the east. Recreational lands along the river include the White Water Off-Road Vehicle Park and Recreation Area, the Bush Creek Park, Candlestick Beach, and Case Community Park.

The Arkansas River is a major tributary of the Mississippi River and flows through Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Headwaters derive from snowmelt in the Sawatch and Mosquito mountain ranges and the river terminates in Napoleon, Arkansas. At 1,469 miles, it is the sixth-longest river in the United States, the second-longest tributary in the Mississippi-Missouri System, and the 45th longest river in the world.
